Help my confused mind.. long read sorry!

I know the day I conceived as we barely get any time together these days 🤣 so I should now be 3 weeks pregnant.. positive tests and missed period bla bla bla but midwife is basing it off my last period which would make me 7 weeks but I know that’s not right.. so confused by it all! I want to book an early scan to make sure things are ok but I feel it’s too early but midwife saying it’s not.. is she right? I know they base it off your last period date for a due date but I know the date I conceived and it was nearly 3 weeks later than they say??

Ya it is kind of confusing hahah I know I conceived on January 16th 2023, but according to the last period they said December 31st. 😅 so they add on those weeks even though you weren't actually pregnant yet 🤨.

So did that affect your due date? As they are telling me December but I know damn well it’ll be January 🤣

You are 7 weeks pregnant if you know you conceived 3 weeks ago- they count the weeks from your LMP as part of the pregnancy to get your due date, so your midwife is right. It is confusing but you are classed as 7 weeks pregnant if your last period was about 7 weeks ago. Your due date estimate is 40 weeks from the first day of your last period, at your 12 week scan you'll get a more accurate due date.

Thank you @Laura it is confusing but that makes a little more sense 🥰

The first two "weeks" of "pregnancy" don't even make sense. Day zero is first day of your last period. Day 14 ish would be ovulation/conception. Its a 40 week pregnancy but the first two weeks are pre conception. That's just how they do it. It doesn't matter much because full term is 37-42 weeks so a 5 week range.

If you know you conceived 3 weeks ago, you're probably closer to 5 weeks pregnant. They go by LMP, but typically it would be 2 weeks before you ovulated. My cycle was long when I conceived, so my LMP wasn't an accurate way to get my due date. It's more accurate to just add 2 weeks. Or you can add 38 weeks (instead of 40) to the day you think you conceived to get an estimated due date!

I was the same but your proper due date won't be calculated officially until your 12 week scan which will be more accurate

Pregnancy is dated as 40 weeks, starting from the date of your last period, so that’s how you’ll get your due date and follow the gestational weeks of your pregnancy. Conception date is 3 weeks ago. Confusing and an outdated method of doing it but here we are 😅

See what it says on the NHS due date calculator. It goes by the first day of your last period. Like a few people have said, pregnancy official starts on the first day of your last period, so for the first two weeks or so you are not actually pregnant at all x https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/finding-out/due-date-calculator/

My clear blue digital has come up as 2-3 weeks so this makes me sense to me than the nhs calculations 🤣

The Clearblue test indicates time since conception occurred not how many weeks pregnant you are. Very confusing I know! X

So... pregnancy timing is weird Typically, the way it's counted, you're 2 weeks pregnant before conception even though that doesn't make any sense because it's from the start of your last period

They will measure your baby and give a due date based on that. Some will be in line with lmp, some won't. You will have your date by the end of the first trimester...

Once you have an ultrasound they’ll be able to measure how big baby is and you’ll get a more accurate due date and about how far along you are mine was pretty accurate the whole time but I remember when my sister had her first baby her midwife was estimating she was due September 22 and once she had her ultrasound she was told September 13th and baby arrived September 12th
