You can contact your midwife and tell them what’s going on and request you be seen in the early pregnancy unit. They’ll be able to scan you and see what’s going on. If you’re high risk, I can’t see the midwife refusing. Spotting can be 100% normal, or it can be a cause for concern. Many people have spotting at various times throughout their pregnancy and go on to have healthy babies. You’ll only know for certain and get that peace of mind if you get yourself seen
Spotting can be completely normal. That being said I just had spotting. After freaking out for 3 days it suddenly clicked that even though it can be normal my ob probably wouldn’t mind checking on baby. I called and they got me in the same day. Little baby is doing fine. I did have a small hemorrhage so the doctor gave me some restrictions while it heals. For peace of mind I would get checked. Usually baby is OK, but there’s no reason to put yourself through days or weeks of stress.
It’s so scary to experience spotting. Try to remember it is common and normal during the entire first trimester. Straining when you poop as well can trigger spotting or bleeding. As long as you aren’t filling a pad or experiencing pain, it should be just fine. I spotted quite a bit weeks 5-11 and twice I saw bright red blood that was more than usual; as soon as that happened, I just went to lie down and rest and breathe and it stopped. Hang in there.
