At 40+1 weeks we found out our baby girl is breech. Not sure why it took so long to find this out, but we attempted an ECV and luckily she turned very quickly! At 40+4 we went to check to ensure she’s in place and attempted a sweep, as I was scared she’ll turn back (personally the sweep hurt more than the ECV but luckily it was over quickly!) I lost my mucus plug on the same day and the following day my water broke in the evening after a nice date out with the hubby.
At 40+6 I started labouring at 9am and by 12pm I was ready to go to the birth centre. They then confirmed I was 4cm dilated (the birth ball and tens machine helped as pain relief while at home). Once I was in the room I had my playlist on and got into the zone with the support of my husband. The hypnobirthing training really did come in handy here as I was so focused on my breathing. The gas and air I stopped after a few hours as it interfered with me just embracing the surges and pushing when required. Once I felt my body was ready to push I went into the water (the relief was incredible) and after half an hour I noticed it has slowed down my labour, as I was pushing with not much progress. My two amazing midwives guided me to different positions out of the pool and after an hour of pushing baby Nya was born at 19:17 on the 20/04/24!
I did end up with a second degree tear but I did not feel it at the time (she was also an 8lbs baby and I’m 5ft 2 U.K. size 6 pre pregnancy so not surprised to get such a tear).
Sending loads of love and positive energy to other pregnant mums. I would say you’ll be in awe at what our body is capable of, so just stay positive and prep as much as you can to feel empowered for birth 🤍

Sounds amazing, congratulations!
You must be so proud of yourself💛

it’s been a real journey if I’m honest but happy with the outcome 🤍🤍

Congrats 🎉.. I have a question did they transfer you to post natal ward or you stayed in a private room for free?

Hi Fatema, when you give birth in the birth centre you get your own room afterwards for free with a bathroom

omg that’s great I had bad experience in postnatal ward 😩
