Postive Birth Centre Story - First time mum 🤍

At 40+1 weeks we found out our baby girl is breech. Not sure why it took so long to find this out, but we attempted an ECV and luckily she turned very quickly! At 40+4 we went to check to ensure she’s in place and attempted a sweep, as I was scared she’ll turn back (personally the sweep hurt more than the ECV but luckily it was over quickly!) I lost my mucus plug on the same day and the following day my water broke in the evening after a nice date out with the hubby.

At 40+6 I started labouring at 9am and by 12pm I was ready to go to the birth centre. They then confirmed I was 4cm dilated (the birth ball and tens machine helped as pain relief while at home). Once I was in the room I had my playlist on and got into the zone with the support of my husband. The hypnobirthing training really did come in handy here as I was so focused on my breathing. The gas and air I stopped after a few hours as it interfered with me just embracing the surges and pushing when required. Once I felt my body was ready to push I went into the water (the relief was incredible) and after half an hour I noticed it has slowed down my labour, as I was pushing with not much progress. My two amazing midwives guided me to different positions out of the pool and after an hour of pushing baby Nya was born at 19:17 on the 20/04/24!

I did end up with a second degree tear but I did not feel it at the time (she was also an 8lbs baby and I’m 5ft 2 U.K. size 6 pre pregnancy so not surprised to get such a tear).

Sending loads of love and positive energy to other pregnant mums. I would say you’ll be in awe at what our body is capable of, so just stay positive and prep as much as you can to feel empowered for birth 🤍

Congrats 🎉.. I have a question did they transfer you to post natal ward or you stayed in a private room for free?

Hi Fatema, when you give birth in the birth centre you get your own room afterwards for free with a bathroom

High risk

I’m considered high risk because I was fully dilated when I had an emergency C-section with my first and there’s risks I could go into pre term labour so I have cervical length scans every 2 weeks between 16-22/24 and I’m aloud to try for a vbac if I go into spontaneous labour by 40 weeks but I’ll have a planned C-section booked for week 40 ( which I’m really hoping doesn’t happen )Just wondering if anyone else had similar experiences I’m just very overwhelmed and hoping people have maybe had a good successful full term pregnancy & birth despite what IVE previously mentioned x

Which induction method??

Im at the hospital now for induction and dont know which method to go for.
I initially didnt want the balloon because the sweeps really hurt me and I feel it will be most uncomfortable but seems like the highest success rate? And no hormones.

What has everyone else done and recommend?

Name crisis

I was so decided on a name, now I'm having second thoughts. It's not a standard name and his middle name is set after my Dad, John. He's very traditional and I know he'll hate the first name I chose! Open to any ideas! I would love if the initials sounded right too! Again, middle name "John". Thank you ladies!! 😭💟

Nausea

I’m 6weeks 4days and my nausea is HORRIBLE ! I wake up immediately feeling like I’m about to throw up to the point I have to sit, breath in extra big breaths, I might feel light headed or like I’m going to pass out. This will literally last ALL DAY & has been for the past 5/6 days now. When I try to eat something I take very small bites as it feels like I’m going to throw up what I just put down. My mom told me about apple juice which has been helping but my goodness I cannot take it 😭 what has helped you guys who deal with bad nausea ?

Sporting when wiping 18 weeks

Yesterday and today I’ve had on-off spotting when wiping. Should I be concerned?
