My little dude is eight months old but doesn’t really do the pincher grasp (not sure if that’s the right word for it) when I try to hand him a snack he either crushes it or tries to eat it off me hand. Am I doing something wrong? Should I be doing something different?

I think it’s just practice. I saw a thing on TikTok about giving a box with clothespins attached so the baby can practice pulling them off - it helps with the pincher grasp. I let my boy pick dandelions in our yard now that the weather is nice and I’ll put snacks on the table in front of him - the gerber star poofs are good for developing the finger pinch. He still drops most things.

They do more of palm grasp at this age

All babies grow developmentally differently. You’re not doing anything wrong mama. My first was walking at 9 months but my second is crawling at 9 months and I’ve used all the same methods. You are doing nothing wrong, all babies have a different pace.

Mine JUST starting the pincer and isn’t very good at it. Give it time, but there are ways to practice!

You're definitely not doing anything wrong! Pinchers grasp is a 9+ month milestone. But, you can definitely "practice" it with him. My son does best with cereal (I buy Purely O's from Cascadian Farms) or cut up baby pancakes.

No, nothing wrong. If you want you can start to model it when you play with him, point at stuff, grab stuff between your fingers, etc. you may see finger raking etc.
