Hey, just looking for any similar experiences or some reassurance - I was 26+1 yesterday and missed the top step at home, I fell down half the stairs and landed mainly on my bum/hip area on the right hand side but hurt my arms and back too. I phoned the labour ward for advice and they said I was welcome to go in for a check over or I could wait and see if baby has usual movements or keep an eye any other signs something was wrong. I waited 45 mins and he hadn’t moved which wasn’t normal for him, I even tried a snack and drink so I phoned back and went in to be checked. They checked my BP and heart rate then strapped me to the monitor to check baby for around 45 minutes and they said his heartbeat was fine and he was moving a lot even though I wasn’t feeling him as much as usual, it was likely to be from shock / adrenaline that my mind and body weren’t as they usually are to be able to feel it but it will be temporary. They were super lovely and didn’t seem concerned at all, just advised to rest and take pain killers for the bruising from where I landed. They did say if I wasn’t happy then to come straight back and to keep an eye for reduced movements / any bleeding etc.
Since then I’ve felt him move a lot as he usually would and stronger movements again. I am however getting pains down my right hand side of my tummy into my hip but that is on the same side as I landed so I’m thinking it’s just muscular pains and I’ve likely pulled it a bit.
Has anyone else been okay after a fall / slip on the stairs? Even though I haven’t had any worrying signs afterwards I can’t help but think that this has or is going to affect the little one. I’m feeling so guilty about it

I fell down the stairs a few days ago and baby was a bit quieter for 24 hours but definitely making up for it now. Midwife said not to worry too much unless pattern of movements change. Think more damage is done to the mommas 🥹

I fell down the stairs at 36 weeks, and I went in to be checked as I’m a believer better to be safe than sorry, if your feeling regular movements that’s a good sign but if you feel you want to be checked over go for it babe. Don’t feel guilty honey it happens. just do what you feels best xxxx

absolutely, it’s so hard not to worry! I’m glad you’re both okay. Thanks for replying x

his movements are definitely reassuring, I’m just finding it difficult to not convince myself there’s something wrong. Thanks for your reply lovely, I’m glad you were okay after a fall xxxx

The exact same thing happened to me two weeks ago when I was 25 wks. Sending lots of love xx

If youre worried go back and get checked. Midwifes would rather u be there every day and know youre ok thab you stay at home and something did turn out to be wrong xx

I’m not surprised you’re hurting if you fell from the top step - I’ve done that myself and it was some of the worst pain ever. Ouch!
But try to remember that your baby is cushioned inside you by a big beach ball filled with water, so he won’t have felt a thing.
If the scans were all clear and you can feel him moving as normal, that’s all really positive, so just try to take your mind off it now.
Take it easy, maybe get a nice warm bath or a massage for your aches and pains.
But remember what they said; if you need more reassurance, you can always go back in. That’s what they are there for.
