40 weeks today and no signs of labor, I feel like I’m being so impatient! My midwife said they’ll let me go to 43 weeks and that they offer a membrane sweep at 41 weeks but they don’t like to do that on first time moms unless there is a good reason…
I’ve been pumping, eating dates, drinking raspberry leaf tea and having sex and nothing seems to be motivating this little girl to come out!
2 days ago I had 6 contractions within 3 hours of each other and they kept getting closer together but then completely stopped 😩
I had heartburn so bad I started taking pepsid daily and few weeks ago but then at 1:30AM this morning even with the pepsid I woke up with such bad reflux that I was puking for 30 minutes. 👎🏼
None of my partner or I’s parents are local and they’re all trying to arrive before baby gets here now and I don’t know what to tell them other than it could be tomorrow or 3 weeks from now! 🤣
This last week has drug by and going another 3 seems like sooooo long!

Id ask for a membrane sweep if they will do it! If you are dilated it is much more likely to work! I had mine and was in labour 4 hrs later.
Other than that just try and relax, dont be crazy active as ive heard this can keep baby in longer (no truth behind this lol) but do go for walks etc.
Go out for some dinners. This will be your last chance to enjoy nice hot meals and have zero concern for anyone lmfao
Make a small list of things like this and check them off im sure you wont get through the list ahha ❤️❤️ (walk on the beach (or nature walk), grab a coffee or treat and enjoy it, binge watch a tv series)
goood luck!! 🥰

Maybe try some primrose? Or talk to your midwife about castor oil?

43 weeks seems extreme. You can certainly request an induction any time after 40 weeks. From what I have heard and read, most midwives/OBs will want to induce by the end of 41w.
Go for lots of walks and google ways to boost oxytocin naturally. You'll get there!

it’s sooo hard but keep being patient! keep walking, keep having sex, bounce on a yoga ball if you have one. if you make it to 41 weeks do the sweep! acid reflux in the middle of the night sucks 😭 you’re so close to baby though, you got this ❤️

Go on a strenuous walk!! Up hills and push yourself. I know it’s not fun especially being full term and so exhausted but I’m telling you it works WONDERS

I second the walking and yoga ball exercises. Try side lunges and curb walking. My midwife gave me Primrose oil to use vaginally.

Have you tried the miles circuit? It can help baby be in a good position and help put pressure on your cervix to dilate.
At my 39 week appointment my midwife said they offer a sweep at 41, but would do one that day if I wanted it. This is my second, so it might be different. If baby hasn't come by my due date I'll be getting that done. Definitely try seeing if they would do a sweep now though!

I don’t have an OBGYN

I’ve been doing the mile circuit too, could probably do it more often… it sounded like they were more willing to do the sweep for repeat births. Hopefully she will come before my appointment next week but if not I’m going to bring the sweep back up!

I just delivered early this morning at 41+5. My midwife did a membrane sweep Monday morning and I went into spontaneous labor at 9:45pm Tuesday evening. I'd been doing all the same things you describe -- dates, sex, yoga ball, pumping, walking and staying active, and curb walking daily for about a week prior to the start of labor. I think the curb walking ended up being great for getting baby low in my pelvis and getting my body more ready for labor, as I was already 4cm dilated and 65% effaced when I had my membrane sweep done on Monday. I do think the sweep is what helped kicked things into gear for labor. I doubt it would have worked if my body hadn't been ready though, so like others have suggested, keep doing what you're doing and try to be patient and enjoy the extra time. Hang in there! It's rough but will be worth it when the time finally comes.
