How often do you breastfeed and pump?
Hi ladies,
How are you managing breast feeding and pumping at the same time?
My baby was born 10lbs so has always had a big appetite. She's looking boob every 2.5 hours sometimes more frequently. I usually give her 20 minutes on each side which seems to satisfy her but because it feels like she spends so much time on the boob I really don't want to do another 20 minutes of pumping after to use as top up bottles.
Does anyone have a breastfeeding/pumping schedule that works for them that they wouldn't mind sharing?

How olds your baby at the mo?
I only pump twice a day now, once in the morning after his morning feed, and once in the evening, he has a bottle in the evening xxx
She's just coming up to 3 weeks. How long do you pump for each time? xx
@Judi as she gets older she will get more efficient at feeding so will be feeding for less time.
I pump for 20 mins a time. I have wearable pumps so i can do it while doing otherthings or playing with my boy xxx
Following I got a 3 week old
My boy was 10lb3oz and like you eating every 2.5 hours, sometimes 2. I feed for 20 mins on each side and then pump for 10 mins after feeds during the day, I get about 50ml from each side. He’s 10 weeks now and it works well for us because it means my partner gives him his bedtime feed in a bottle
To add, I hire the medela symphony which is a hospital grade pump and it drains my boobs in those 10 minutes. I do have a wearable one for days I can’t sit and pump. I usually wear it on the car journey and by the time I’ve reached where I’m going I just have to put it in the bottle x
