How do I get my 10 month old to not need to take a bottle at all at night. He ends up always needing a bottle to first fall asleep then in the middle of the night at some point he wakes up needing a bottle but I give him water at that point. I am trying to not have to give him anything .

So...when we were weaning off of so many night feeds to get her to sleep through the night, we slowly added more to the daytime bottles so there was less at night that she would need. When we would first start to stretch out the time between bottles due to this method, she would wake up around the same time she had been but we would hold her and she would calm down. The thought was if she didn't then we knew she was hungry and we'd feed her then and try the next night. She usually calmed down and was just out of habit of waking up. We still haven't gotten rid of the last bottle before bed though. We got to the point of 8 oz was her max in her bottles so we do 3 8 oz bottles during the day and a 4 oz before bed 🤷♀️ it has worked out for us.

I stopped giving my son milk at night when he was 3 months old when he would wake up I would just try my hardest to put him back to sleep without the bottle after the second day he stopped waking up and would sleep through the night.

My son uses the bottle, I think, to fall back asleep. I don't think he is actually hungry, so one of these days, we will try to get him off of that.

when they wake up in the middle of the night, try soothing them back to sleep instead of giving a bottle because them waking up for a bottle is just a habit. if they don’t fall asleep that way, just slowly reduce the amount of formula you give them.

Soothe him with rocking, singing, swaying.... Or a combination of several

Mine was doing this. Pediatrician said it is for comfort and also we conditioned them to wake up to want a bottle when they didn’t need it. It took two weeks to ignore her middle of the night waking up for a bottle for her to get the picture that it’s only going to be given during normal wake hours. This was all recommended by the pediatrician and it worked. Now our baby sleep soundlessly through the night. She also learned how to self soothe herself back to sleep
