My mother in law saw my belly for the first time and said that these were some of the worst stretch marks she has ever seen. Believe it or not… they actually used to be worse. I have religiously put on cocoa butter and vitamin e oil 2-3 times a day. Both my mom and sister had bad stretch marks, so I guess it’s genetic. Anyone else suffer from bad stretch marks, or maybe I’m just one of the lucky ones.

Tell MIL to shutup lol. You cant help it! But seriously- My family also has very bad stretch marks so by the third trimester, my stomach also started to cover in stretch marks and they were also darker than my tone. I’m not even a full week post delivery and they have started lightening up so continue doing what you’re doing with the vitamin E and cocoa butter, and after delivery, still continue to do it while also wearing an abdominal binder or something similar, and I believe it should help!

That's Fing rude. I have stretch marks all over my stomach, it does have to do with genetics and sometimes they'll lighten up after and respond to lotions and oils (mine don't really lol) but idc and id probably rage on anyone that commented on them.

It’s definitely genetic, I had no stretch marks but continued to apply lotions/oils then at 33 weeks pregnant I got stretch marks all over, I’m hoping they get better after birth

I saw a woman tweet that her daughter once commented as they were cuddling together “mommy, I love your designs.” And how awesome that made her feel about hers!
Your MIL shouldn’t be commenting like that!? So rude!
Keep moisturizing, the redness will fade with time and there are things you can do afterwards that can help as well if it is a concern. I advise a lot of ppl on dog bite scars after having experienced it myself, and there are some awesome scar products nowadays that could also be beneficial for stretch marks. Silicone scar gels, silicone scar tape or pads, and there are even silicone belly wraps/binders now for post partum bellies that can help fade stretch marks or help with c section healing as well.
For now, if it’s a concern, to avoid extra pigmentation or redness, make sure to keep the skin protected from sunlight with clothes or sunblock if you’re out. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Tell her to shove a cork in it. Your marks are beautiful and from carrying the weight of life. I’m sorry for her comments.

I’d have kept the same energy 😅 Have you ever heard of Ambi? My mum swears by it & I plan to use it after baby

I have pretty bad stretch marks but im also obese so that didn’t help. I wasnt good about putting cream on with my first pregnancy. I might be better with this second one

First off, this is normal!!! Not every woman gets them as much but still very normal, mine looked JUST like yours when I was pregnant and I did all the things and they still looked like that. After giving birth they calmed down, now almost 3 years later and they are all still there but there are not red and purple anymore, more a whitish color and not as obvious. Keep putting cocoa butter and vitamin e on and remember, they are a side effect of growing your child and are beautiful in their own way ❤️

I also suffered from really bad stretch marks and stretched skin. My mom and sister made fun of the way my tummy felt postpartum. Any time anyone saw my stretch marks they said they looked so painful. It was very disheartening. My husband is very supportive and doesn't care at all and buys me whatever I want to try and help it. Derma rolling has really helped my skin

It’s genetic and nothing you can do can stop it. When your body starts to go back to normal they lessen over time though. Tell your mother in law that you didn’t ask her to “rate” your stretch marks to others she’s seen. You are doing an amazing thing that is hard work and you’re still as beautiful as ever!

My sis inlaw had worse even meny years after having kids

Yeah I've got bad stretch marks too. Mine aren't as high as yours but I have the same number of them. They're really close together all on the bottom half of my belly. I feel like mine look awful I am so conscious of them😢

I think you look beautiful. What a bonkers thing to see your belly growing a perfect little person and see it as the worst of anything. Think of what those scars mean mama, you're wonderful and these are natural and part of your body changing. I wish more people understood just how amazing it is what our bodies go through xx

I think they're beautiful. All stretch marks are beautiful. I think mothers in law tend to get really nasty for some reason with their comments but disguise them as them just being helpful/nice.... ignore her!!! You're growing a baby!!! You're doing amazing you look amazing! And the belly is homing your precious baby!!!🩷a tip I've heard if it's bothering YOU not your MIL is that outer hydration for the belly is good but apparently it's hydrating inside that helps the most ? Drinking enough water etc. but genetics are the biggest player! I also have stretch marks I've struggled with on my belly! But it's not something we can control and we should always see them as beautiful! Xxx

Stretch marks are genetic.. No amount of moisturiser will prevent them. I’ve had two pregnancies, my first was twins (they left me with 1 tiny stretch mark where my navel piercing was, my most recent I have 3 again small stretch marks. Both of my pregnancies I failed to moisturise. Try to learn to love your tiger marks, they tell a story of your journey into motherhood - they will fade over time x

Oh and your mil can f*ck right off with her insensitive comments. Forgot to add that in 🫠

With my daughter 14 years ago, I went through two bottles of Palmer's stretch mark lotion and still broke out in tiger stripes exactly like up there.

How bloody ignorant to pass comment.

Mine are as dark as yours maybe darker, and are on my entire stomach, my thighs, my sides and almost reach to my back. She can shut up 😂

Use Extra virgin olive oil every day after good long bath/shower and exfoliate well. Don’t eat pork. You will see a difference in few days.
Ignore hateful comments love, you have a beautiful child that’s the most important thing.
