Can anyone please recommend some activity/open ended/engaging type toys for baby?
Baby is so so incredibly hard to keep entertained, he plays with things for the shortest time then whinges and whines (and will escalate into screaming/crying) and the only time he stops if is the TV is on! He acts like he is addicted to it and clearly this is something I don’t want to encourage. He gets lots of one to one play time and I model the toys for him, I feel at a loss what to do as he is just so hard to please 🤦♀️

Musical instruments like shakers are popular in our house. So are the Lovevery playkits, but they are pricey!

Where is he when he’s playing? Sometimes they just want to be on the floor so they have more freedom of movement

I second the Lovevery playkits but instead of buying them, I look on their website for the appropriate age and then source that toys elsewhere 😂 my little one still enjoys her playmat for a few mins and randomly I bought a play tissue box from Nuby that was super cheap and she adores it. She could easily spend 5mins uninterrupted fishing out the “tissues”. Finally “play_at_home_mummy on Instagram has some brilliant ideas, check out her highlights!
yeah he is playing on the floor! 🤍
Thanks everyone, I had looked at the lovevery play kits and couldn’t believe how expensive they were. Ordered some musical instruments and hadn’t thought of sourcing the toys from the play kit elsewhere, that’s a great idea ! 😘

I know 😅 The quality is definitely so much better than anything else I've bought and you save money if you buy 3 at once and get referred. I have a referral code for £20 off but it's still expensive! One of the perks is you get a brochure each time with loads of play ideas. Either free or using things you've already got around the house. Some of our best games are things from that and she always develops skills quickly because we make it fun. But yeah it was a big investment and I'll probably pause for the next couple of months then restart it once the kits have more advanced toys again.

I haven't met a baby yet that doesn't like playing with ribbons, bubbles, homemade shakers (rice or pasta in plastic bottle), homemade drum kit (saucepans with wooden spoon). Toys really don't have to be expensive just look around your house everything is new and intriguing to them.
