So I had a diabetes test this morning and the results came back positive but they want to retest me just to make sure. Now I’m so worried about the unknown. Anybody else got GB? What do we have to cut out of our diet? X

i really recommend joining gestational diabetes uk on facebook for advice and support x

I tested positive last week, it was quite a shock but I'm getting on OK with the monitoring and the diet now. If anything I am finding myself quite motivated about it all. You just have to cut down on carbs, especially any high refined sugar foods (chocolate, sweets, etc.), and also things like white bread, white pasta, crisps, etc. You can still have carbs (and you should) but stick to things like brown pasta and brown bread. Limit portions of fruit if you can or have fruit that has fewer net carbs (apples, pears, blackberries, strawberries). There are some really good snacks you can buy on amazon if you are still craving certain things like crisps or junk food. (Look up Cheddar Cheesies or The Curators Pork Puffs). You can still have a few treats without it spiking your levels too much. Just takes a bit of getting used to 😊 Pro tip - bacon and eggs have very few carbs in them so I've been have that for breakfast everyday 😅 Not finding I'm hungry at all!

Also not specifically designed for Gestational Diabetes, but I have an app called Carb Manager (it's free unless you want to pay to unlock more recipes). You can search up any food or ingredients you might want to eat and check what the net carbs are. It's an app meant for people who want to follow a keto diet so please only use as a guideline if you do use it 🙏 You should still be eating carbs, but I've found that it just helps me monitor how many I'm consuming 🥰
