Any signs of labour?

Hi everyone

I’m FTM so don’t have a clue as to what to expect for the signs of labour. I think I’ve lots a mucus plug yesterday and have been feeling tightness in my tummy a few times a day but nothing painful. I understand they could be early signs of labour but nothing has started for me (just yet…).
I would love to hear what people experienced as early signs of labour? ☺️ any advice will be much appreciated 💖💖

On my first pregnancy it went as follows:-

Crippling Back pain the evening before
Period like cramps morning of birth which didn’t really get painful as such and wasn’t timely at all
3pm went to hospital to get monitored was 2cm
3:30pm cramps got worse
4:30pm mucus plug released and sudden urge to push
6:30pm waters broke with baby during birth

Everyone is different, that was my experience first time round

Hoping for the same this time tbh it was stress free and quick 🙃 I’m also feeling absolutely fine atm, with the odd cramp but no ‘signs’ yet

Thank you so much that’s great to know! Can I ask if you felt the baby’s movement until the end?
I would love to have a stress free and quick labour as well☺️ just don’t have any clue as to what to expect but everyone says “you’ll know”😂💖

My first time round I would up at 8 am and had found my mucus plug had released, also felt period like cramps.

Then followed with tightness and contractions the whole day, kept timing them until they were 5 minutes apart and the app told me to get to the hospital. Ended up going at around 10pm was 4cm so got addmitted.

After that my body just got really slow and only became 10cm the following day at 6:30 pm and gave birth at 7pm

Now this time round, im experiencing a lot of contractions and period like cramps but that’s it, I’m timing them but they aren’t consistent enough

Thats interesting, thank you so much for sharing! I’m experiencing period like cramps and tightness as well but not consistent like you! I will start to time them to see if they get consistent ☺️

could also be braxton hicks until you get into labour x

I’ve been having these for weeks and it’s my body’s version of braxton hicks apparently! X

Baby boy is here!

Just had baby boy this morning at 5:49am 🥹🥰 I was in labor for 10 hours and pushed him out within 9 pushes. I cried tears of joy for like 20 minutes. All that pain was worth seeing his adorable little face and chubby cheeks 🫶🏾

Obstetrician led

I’m having shared care between midwife’s and obstetrician.

My previous pregnancy I had extra growth scans as baby was measuring big and I had pre-eclampsia during labour and a full dilated emergency C-section.

This time round I’m having obstetrician appointments, midwives appointments, cervical length scan every two weeks from 16-22/24, and extra growth scans again .

I’m just finding it all a lot to process can anyone let me know there experiences and if they went on to have a happy pregnancy despite it

Polly??

My 3 year old son is completely insistent that baby sisters name will be Polly. I think he just got attached ages ago after hearing it shouted in the park and now it does matter what name we suggest, even if he says he likes it, he still insists her name is Polly.

Now I dont hate it but its not really what I imagine for my daughter either?? I typically like full (yet girly) names with a cute nickname that can work in either a professional setting or out of work.

I think Polly just feels like a cute nickname to me? Also, I had an imaginary friend heavily inspired by Polly Pocket as a child so I dont think that helps 🤣

We just cant seem to agree on any names as a family so a bit stumped!

C section advice

I am 34 weeks tomorrow and have been booked to have an induction at 37 weeks due to my waters leaking! They let me know today that I will be induced using the hormone drip and ive heard so many negative stories about the hormone drip and I also had a very negative induction on my first little girl. So I am looking into having an elective section instead. I know they can be frowned upon and I also know the recovery is alot harder than vaginally birth. But I genuinely think its my best option for me especially as my we live so far away from family and need to have someone come stay with our daughter.

Any advice would be appreciated on what to expect.

Mums that have kids🥰

When you gave birth and came back home with your newborn. When people wanted to come visit you straight away. How did you feel?

Everyone has different experiences I’m so curious x
