Planned Section

Hello. I have a date for my planned section. I’m just wondering if anyone has had any experience of being brought forward or date change? Glasgow Royal!

Hey my planned section was booked for the 21st June at QEUH they phoned me on the 19th at 4 pm asking me to come in at 10am the next day (20th) so a day earlier than planned . I agreed to it because they said their very busy, and if I stuck to the original date, I may need to go to a different hospital or even wait for a later date . Op went absolutely fine, only annoying part was I was last on the list so had to wait all day ( he was born at 15:49)

Aw thank you! The consultant had said this yesterday but would happily go a week earlier haha. Where you kept in for a long time after? X

Haha I felt like that too . I thought they were phoning to say they needed to change to a leter date and was so happy it was a day early 😅 . I was supposed to get our 24 hours later, had bags all packed up in the car ready to go , but during baby check, they found a slight heart murmur, so had to keep us in another night so another consultant could have a look at him the next day . But if no issues you get out 24 hours later x

Hey☺️ mine was meant to be 11th June & they brought it forward a day to 10th. The midwives & all the staff are absolutely brilliant. It was my first baby & I was so emotional & in tears before it with anxiety but they were amazing & I would chose a planned section again ❤️ hope all goes well mumma 😁xx

How far in advance did you get your date?

I was emergency with my first too . Completely different i got my date maybe a week and a half / 2 weeks before . Much more relaxed and laid back with the planned one. Take you through everything there doing step by step in theatre and always asked how I was feeling. The epidural made me feel like I had heavy chest and then my BP dropped and I felt like I was going to pass out . They fixed it straight away with some meds through the drip and I felt absolutely fine after that . The only thing I struggled with was shoulder pain it started durning surgery and I had it until I went home . Its to do with trapped wind but the pain is in your shoulder . It was the worst pain out of it all . Hope all goes well . X

Baby boy is here!

Just had baby boy this morning at 5:49am 🥹🥰 I was in labor for 10 hours and pushed him out within 9 pushes. I cried tears of joy for like 20 minutes. All that pain was worth seeing his adorable little face and chubby cheeks 🫶🏾

Obstetrician led

I’m having shared care between midwife’s and obstetrician.

My previous pregnancy I had extra growth scans as baby was measuring big and I had pre-eclampsia during labour and a full dilated emergency C-section.

This time round I’m having obstetrician appointments, midwives appointments, cervical length scan every two weeks from 16-22/24, and extra growth scans again .

I’m just finding it all a lot to process can anyone let me know there experiences and if they went on to have a happy pregnancy despite it

Polly??

My 3 year old son is completely insistent that baby sisters name will be Polly. I think he just got attached ages ago after hearing it shouted in the park and now it does matter what name we suggest, even if he says he likes it, he still insists her name is Polly.

Now I dont hate it but its not really what I imagine for my daughter either?? I typically like full (yet girly) names with a cute nickname that can work in either a professional setting or out of work.

I think Polly just feels like a cute nickname to me? Also, I had an imaginary friend heavily inspired by Polly Pocket as a child so I dont think that helps 🤣

We just cant seem to agree on any names as a family so a bit stumped!

C section advice

I am 34 weeks tomorrow and have been booked to have an induction at 37 weeks due to my waters leaking! They let me know today that I will be induced using the hormone drip and ive heard so many negative stories about the hormone drip and I also had a very negative induction on my first little girl. So I am looking into having an elective section instead. I know they can be frowned upon and I also know the recovery is alot harder than vaginally birth. But I genuinely think its my best option for me especially as my we live so far away from family and need to have someone come stay with our daughter.

Any advice would be appreciated on what to expect.

Mums that have kids🥰

When you gave birth and came back home with your newborn. When people wanted to come visit you straight away. How did you feel?

Everyone has different experiences I’m so curious x
