Fetal Heart Conditions

We went in for a 32-week ultrasound yesterday after having a completely normal 20-week anatomy scan. The technician immediately put us on the phone with a doctor after the scan telling us that one side of the baby’s heart looks bigger than the other. We’ve been referred to a fetal cardiologist for echo cardio gram but the waiting for a phone call is driving us crazy. Has anyone had experience with this?

Kind of, I was born with an enlarged heart which went away as I started walking. As a precaution I did have to see a fetal cardiologist to check my daughter’s heart to understand if she’d have a similar condition.

Not the exact same but during my anatomy scan the doctors weren't able to see the heart as well as they wanted and are concerned that the baby has vsd heart condition this is where there is a hole in the heart. They are sending me to a fetal specialist to exam further and they called me yesterday to book my appointment. I just remain hopefully it's something the child can grow out of. I also try not to worry so much as that puts more strain on the body as well.

i am remaining hopeful for you as well! I hope you get more answers at your appointment. We were just told we will be getting an echo cardio gram with the fetal cardiologist next week so hopefully more answers there too. 🙏🏻

Obstetrician led

I’m having shared care between midwife’s and obstetrician.

My previous pregnancy I had extra growth scans as baby was measuring big and I had pre-eclampsia during labour and a full dilated emergency C-section.

This time round I’m having obstetrician appointments, midwives appointments, cervical length scan every two weeks from 16-22/24, and extra growth scans again .

I’m just finding it all a lot to process can anyone let me know there experiences and if they went on to have a happy pregnancy despite it

Polly??

My 3 year old son is completely insistent that baby sisters name will be Polly. I think he just got attached ages ago after hearing it shouted in the park and now it does matter what name we suggest, even if he says he likes it, he still insists her name is Polly.

Now I dont hate it but its not really what I imagine for my daughter either?? I typically like full (yet girly) names with a cute nickname that can work in either a professional setting or out of work.

I think Polly just feels like a cute nickname to me? Also, I had an imaginary friend heavily inspired by Polly Pocket as a child so I dont think that helps 🤣

We just cant seem to agree on any names as a family so a bit stumped!

Baby boy is here!

Just had baby boy this morning at 5:49am 🥹🥰 I was in labor for 10 hours and pushed him out within 9 pushes. I cried tears of joy for like 20 minutes. All that pain was worth seeing his adorable little face and chubby cheeks 🫶🏾

Getting your induction call?

I have an induction booked for today, and was told I’d receive a call between 8 am and 9 am to let us know what time to head into the hospital. I haven’t received a call yet.

For the ladies who were induced, when did you receive your call/is it worth me following up with them? I’m sure we’ll get caught at some point soon and don’t want to be that irritating person chasing up necessarily 😂

C section advice

I am 34 weeks tomorrow and have been booked to have an induction at 37 weeks due to my waters leaking! They let me know today that I will be induced using the hormone drip and ive heard so many negative stories about the hormone drip and I also had a very negative induction on my first little girl. So I am looking into having an elective section instead. I know they can be frowned upon and I also know the recovery is alot harder than vaginally birth. But I genuinely think its my best option for me especially as my we live so far away from family and need to have someone come stay with our daughter.

Any advice would be appreciated on what to expect.
