What did the sonographer date you at?

They said they think I’m a few weeks

They couldn’t see a foetus yet so hard to date x

Perhaps you’re just earlier than you think you are would it be feasible for you to try another scan in a week or two?

Yeah I think I may book another one in 2 weeks
I think I ovulated on the 27th meaning I’d only be 4 week x

Yes it is soooo common to be behind dates. I’m meant to be 6+2 but I think I’m up to a week behind. LMP is the standard way to date a pregnancy but leaves a lot of room for error as not every woman has a perfect cuticle and ovulates at 14 days. A lot of women ovulate later and then there is a window of 24-48 hours to conceive and then time to implant (7–12 days). Seeing a sac and egg yolk is a great start. 3+ weeks translates for 5+ weeks. The very earliest you can see a baby and heartbeat is 6 weeks. Leave at least another week but longer would be better for another scan to see baby. While you haven’t seen baby yet, it’s very normal when too early but you have to look at the positives - the pregnancy can be seen & located in the right place.

So had an early scan yesterday couldn't really see much but a sac and saw a heartbeat. I thought I was 7 weeks today but sonographer advised they thought I was barely 6 weeks

When I went to my first scan I thought I was 7 weeks 2 days but was actually 6 weeks 3 days so you could just be earlier than you thought x

Did they give you another date for an appointment ? When I went in for my scan they told me I was 5weeks and 5 days and it was too early to see anything. They booked me in for an appointment two weeks after that and the baby had grown a lot and I could see a fetal heartbeat. But most pregnancy tests can only tell you 3weeks+ they won’t give you an exact week xx

I got 3+ weeks on a test then went for a scan a week later and we saw something and a little heartbeat but it really wasn’t much so I imagine if I had gone the day I got the 3+ weeks on the test I wouldn’t have seen anything either

Clear blue 3+ weeks has a massive margin and it’s only accurate for ladies once they are over 4000hcg so it’s really really rough. I was 3+ confirmed by bloods and I know conception date exactly and clear blue still had me at 2-3 weeks. I’d ignore that. Just be patient, scan in two weeks (there is clinical guidance on ultrasounds not to do them too often). Then you will know get you are at. Great start xx
