My son is obsessed with dinosaurs. He is with them in his dreams as well when he is asleep, let alone when is awake. Obsessions go away with time
My son says numbers and colours to calm himself
My son has gone through a few. ATM it’s gruffalo but we’ve had numbers and letters, Bluey. They go through phases. Maybe try to encourage using the letters to do other activities such as printing them with paint or finding them in the sand?
My girl is obsessed with dinosaurs! She’s always stomping round roaring, pretending to be one, and at nursery she always has one with her. She doesn’t show much interest in anything else right now but she can say a lot of dinosaurs names/can identify each one and is pretty clever within that one subject so I’m encouraging it and helping her learn more about them until she moves onto the next thing
My girl is baby obsessed! We’ve got a million! She has to take one everywhere we go! She rocks them, walks them in the pram, pretends to change their bum, feeds them! It’s literally all she plays with at nursery, every photo there’s a baby involved! xx
My son has gone through a hat phase where he always needed a hat, then a choo choo phase where everything was all about Thomas all the time, and now he is all about dinos- bringing one everywhere he goes!
My son is obsessed with cars, bluey and sand pits. Everytime he sees a car or something bluey related he points to it and says pretty. I bought him a bluey backpack last week and he cuddled it all the way home. He has at least 30 cars of varying sizes and colours. I've just got him a sandpit for at home so I have somewhere to put all the sand that he brings home from nursery (in his shoes)
For us it's the gruffalo and the alphabet! He went through a very strange phase of Hickory dickory Dock where everything he saw was going up the clock and if we tried to distract him from it (it got obsessive) he'd get really upset! It lasted a few months and now he's onto reciting The gruffalo story😅 I think it's normal but I can see why you'd be concerned , I've realised everything is a phase and they're all so different , we just let him burn it out and he did 💙
My son has had a few different obsessions now but his current one is hoovers 😬 I hear "get the hoover out" about 50 times a day haha
My daughter is obsessed with babies. She has to have one in the car. And on the daily updates from nursery (they post photos on the app) there is always a doll present. Even if it’s painting or garden time there is a doll! I don’t know if it’s a comfort thing, but I’m worried it’s holding her back from getting fully involved in other things. X
