FTM, due 16 July. I don't drink coffee, but it seems to be a staple for new parents.
This weekend I've been absolutely exhausted and I'm freaking out about how I will cope with the sleepless nights and make it through the day without added caffeine (I also don't drink coca cola or energy drinks)
Would appreciate any insights/helpful tips.
TIA

So I don't drink coffee cause it actually makes me sleepy, and doesn't make me any more alert.
Chocolate tends to pick me up a bit - so that might be my go to x

I truly believe that pregnancy tired and newborn tired are completely different. Yes it's less sleep but it's better quality. I used to be a huge coffee drinker before pregnancy now I survive on tea, juice and electrolyte tablets with water xx

Matcha! 🍵 Matcha lattes, warm or iced. If BF I would also add protein powder to keep me fuller for longer and lots of oat milk which is good for milk supply. I also found I didn’t have a caffeine crash like some of my friends who relied on coffee. It’s full of anti oxidants so good for you too. But I agree with Sarah, pregnancy tired was way way worse for me than newborn tired.

As said it is different tired. Have 4 month old baby and even though I’m tired it’s not as bad as when I was pregnant.

I take Iron vitamins, but there's a shortage in my area for the last month. I'm dying here, but drinking tea

I am the same as you, no caffeine etc and the tiredness in the newborn phase is broken but not bad quality wise and I found I was more tired in pregnancy than newborn phase.
Personally I found plenty of fluids (for me that's dilute cordial) and snacks really helped.

Sports drinks! They’re also great for if you’re breastfeeding

Thanks all. Appreciate the insights and suggestions. X
