I know they’re completely normal, but just discovered my first ever hemorrhoid at 38 weeks pregnant with my second baby, and I feel so embarrassed! It’s also uncomfortable. Does anyone have tips and tricks to ease this? Also, do I make my midwife aware, or is that just weird?? 😂

I got haemorrhoids with my first (can’t remember how many weeks I was) but when I told my midwife she told me to increase fibre intake in my diet to make it more comfortable to go. Also there are some creams that you can get to help with them. I will tell you though, I am on my third pregnancy with 2 weeks left to go and mine from my first never went away. I was told they can sometimes go away over time as the pressure goes but mine didn’t and I ended up getting more with my second and one more this time round so I have a cluster of them. They can refer you to have them surgically removed if they cause you too much trouble but you’d need to speak with your dr for a referral for that.
Also, don’t ever feel embarrassed about it as it is totally normal and even when not pregnant you can get them. I hope it eases soon for you though and you’re not in too much pain.

I’d definitely recommend lots of warm baths with epsom salts - ideally a sitz bath if you have one, or if not a shallow bath just up to your hips (it helps concentrate blood flow to the inflammation). The creams didn’t help shrink mine, but they did ease some discomfort.
I’ve had mine since 20 weeks, they’re just constantly there but only really cause me issues if they swell up after a particularly hard bowel movement.

Anusol and germaloids pessaries! I had this 3 weeks ago and that’s what the midwife insisted I get xx
Thank you all so much 💗 glad I’m not alone! Although, wishing you are all feeling ok and not too uncomfy! I’ve actually not been struggling with bowel movements so I’m thinking it must be pressure from baby. Just hoping the “pushing” baby out won’t make it all worse!!

I’ve got bum grapes too, I tried anusol but it didn’t do anything so I’m gonna wait until I push baby out and then go from there. I wouldn’t bother making them aware, they’ll see for themselves and won’t care one bit 😂 xx
