Experience of birth at Worthing hospital

I recently heard that Worthing hospital is quite understaffed and that the maternity ward may potentially face closure… Not sure at all if this is true of course, but heard it from a reliable source.

I’m in my third trimester with my first baby, and so far my experience with Worthing hospital has been honestly fantastic! I’m just getting quite nervous as it’s closer to the due date and I’m unsure whether I should look into changing hospital. Think I’d be more relaxed if it was my 2nd😅

I just wondered what other people’s experiences are giving birth here, or even if they’ve heard similar things?

Thanks☺️

I’ve had 2 babies both positive experiences but waited 3 days for a bed on labour ward.

It’s not closing now they released a statement to share it’s staying open

I had a baby girl there 4days ago and it was quite understaffed. However, all the staff were so kind, supportive and lovely throughout. I felt safe and looked after and the midwives and staff were working extremely hard to look after everyone. I couldn’t fault the staff one bit however, it did take slightly longer to have things done but, when they were done they were done well! Xx

I had my baby back in January and couldn’t have wished for a better experience. The midwives are so kind and attentive. Nothing was ever too much trouble and the support they gave me after my c section was great! The visitor rules were a bit annoying, only allowed two visitors a day including birth partner but it wasn’t the end of the world. Good luck xx

I had my baby in March and although it was a bit of a rollercoaster can’t fault the midwife’s or doctors x

I had my 3rd c section at worthing hospital 8 weeks ago honestly cannot fault them. My first was a special care baby and the care we both received was incredible. My 2nd and 3rd I was in hospital 1 night and everytime I needed some help I think the longest I waited was about 2 mins.
My first section was 12 years ago 2nd was 7 years ago they have sadly never had full staffing but it certainly didn’t change the care they provid

I had my little girl there and honestly had such an amazing experience with the staff and facilities there! The only thing that we found hard was my husband didn’t have a chair in the to sit/sleep on only a footstall and the staff all kept saying they would bring one for him! Only took them almost 15 hours to finally get him one!! But the staff were so lovely and gave us great advise and really helped us 🥰🥰

Heard nothing about closure. It was busy (full in my ward) I'm April when I had my boy. The staff are busy but they are also incredibly lovely. I had a bad reaction to some medication and was v.unwell and they acted very quickly and were very caring. If you can avoid staying more than 1 night, it is great to get home where you will sleep better. Honestly though, they couldn't have done more to help and were always just a push of a button away. I wouldn't change hospital if I were you. I would 100% choose Worthing again.

Is this normal?

Is this little red bit on my section scar normal? It’s not oozing anything, doesn’t hurt but it’s the only bit on my scar like it so just curious! (19 days PP)
Thank you in advance! 🥰

Help

I was getting pretty painful period cramps and during those, I had painful lower back cramps. I had these on and off for like a few hours so from about 10:30pm to 1am?

I’ve had no show, or anything like that.

Is this braxton hicks or early labour pains?

Labour??

I’ve had on/off mild period cramps since 9 last night, very irregular and very mild, but I just had one that woke me up. My waters haven’t gone and nor has my mucous plug… but could this be a sign that it’s close?! I’m 40+3 and desperate to meet her!

Early waters/pre term labour?

I can’t get checked until later today unfortunately. I can’t tell if I’m leaking/starting early. I definitely think I’m having braxton hicks yesterday and today.. i have some pain in my back but she is quite low down so hoping it’s just pressure, baby was a little quieter yesterday but she’s back to more normal movements today, but my underwear just seems to get so wet, especially after going to the bathroom. And I honestly can’t work out the smell, I’m pretty sure it’s just discharge/urine leaking but there’s that worry in my mind a little. Are there any other ways to know/check if it could be the start of it all?
