Iron Infusion

My iron levels keep dropping so they’ve booked me in for an Iron infusion. The doctor showed me pictures of it staining skin permanently which has made me anxious.

Has anyone had an iron infusion and how did it go?

Not in this group but saw the post. I had iron infusions with my son. I had no issues with it, certainly no skin staining. They just put in a needle and I sat there for 2ish hours twice a week. I’d nap, scroll my phone, watch tv, etc. it wasn’t really anything crazy.

I had one last week, with no issues.
I was there for a while as they did a urine dip, set of obs and listened to babies heartbeat before cannulating me, cannulated me then had to wait for the Dr to prescribe the infusion. The actual infusion only took 30 minutes, then they did another set of obs, listened to baby's heartbeat again, and had to wait for an hour after to make sure I didn't have a reaction.

I took my laptop and watched a film whilst I was there to kill the time and took some snacks as well as my appointment was fairly early in the morning.

I have been feeling less tired since and feel like I have more energy.

I’ve had iron infusions a few times and never had any problems, never even heard of skin staining. Only issue I’ve had was a nurse got blood all over my jeans and jumper while flushing the vein which was annoying, thankfully I was wearing dark clothing lol

I had one last week and it was fine. They observe baby for about half hour, then they put your cannulae in and start the drip off slowly to ensure you don’t react, then they will make it faster. Takes about 2 hours? I was quite happy scrolling on my phone and even got a cat nap in.
