Is anyone planning on weaning early? My daughter will be 4 months on Wednesday and I’m just so on the fence, what are everyone’s thoughts? If you are already how are you going about it?

I started this weekend and my baby is 4.5 months old. But start with a few small spoonfuls of bits and bobs xx

Why do you want to start early is there a reason?
Baby just needs milk until 6 months and if they are not sitting unaided on their own yet then it's not recommended before 6 months due to the increase of choking even on purees

We started at 4 and a half months on hospital advice (our baby has allergies and reflux), and she loves it! She was very ready though and we would have continued to hold off if she wasn’t. We’ve started with a single vegetable puree once a day and we then swap the vegetable after 3 days!

I started weaning mine a few days before she turn 5 months with blw but from 4.5 months she’s been trying bits of fresh fruit a few times a week and loves it. She just tried omelette yesterday :)

We started our son at 4 months. He can sit while assisted and can sit up himself in the higher, we started so early because he was showing major interest in our foods and was opening his mouth and smacking his lips while we ate. He had no trouble eating purées at all but I only give a few spoonfuls after he's had his bottle. It's definitely based on babies development and if they're ready, but always ask your ped if unsure!

How ready are they? Follow your baby. I weaned my LG at 4.5m and tried my LB at 4m because hes so greedy. The difference between the two is crazy. She was obviously ready and he obviously isn't so I'm waiting with him.

Nope not worth the risk in my opinion. Would never forgive myself if they developed awful lifelong digestive issues in adulthood due to me not following guidance

Thanks for everyone’s advice, decided against for the time being, always said I’d wait till 6 months just think I got carried away and over excited at the prospect of it😂 going to keep her a baby for a little while longer🤣

@Georgia I do think a lot of mums were like this, I definitely was with my first but I read about why we wait until 6 months and I decided I'd just wait and honestly it'll be here before you know it. By 6 months they are better developed and so is their little digestive systems.
Unless it's recommended to start early for medical reasons I wouldn't risk it 😊
Also I know it's really exciting and you want to give them all the yummy fruits ect but honestly start with veggies and once they are happily taking these move on to fruits veggies ect are better for making them less fussy in later life and developing a taste for them and also better for their growing teeth ☺️
