Please tell my your positive elective C-section stories! I’m due to have my caesarean on Wednesday and I’m petrified. I feel so nauseous and sick and I’m losing sleep over it. I suffer from seizures due to stress and anxiety so this isn’t helping these past and last few days either 😩

for me the most uncomfortable part was the spinal block it didn’t hurt but the position you have to sit in was just quite uncomfortable, the c-section itself was the easiest part i was nervous asf before but once your numbed you honestly dont feel anything! you have a team with you and someone who keeps a eye on your vitals so you know your safe and being closely monitored, what helped keep my mind off it was just thinking about seeing baby soon and what they will look like, it honestly doesnt take long either it was over quite quickly, with recovery the pain isn’t too bad its more uncomfortable then painful the best way i can describe it is when your walking it just feels like someone is pulling down on your stomach like a heavy tightness (walking often did help to ease it slightly) me personally i was off the oramorph the next day (everyone is different tho) but kept taking the paracetamol and ibuprofen for swelling, keeping baby in mind was SO helpful though! you go this mumma! ❤️

I had a category 1 emergency C-section at Southend in November 2021 so I wasn’t awake for it unfortunately but my advice for recovering would be take the morphine😂 amazing stuff! Wee often once you have catheter out, plenty of water and I took my body pillow with me and honestly it was the best decision I made, I propped it behind me and made getting out of bed a little easier. Take plenty of snacks especially if you are planning to breastfeed. I was quite battered and bruised all over my tummy pretty badly after but that’s probably because it was the most urgent C-section. But just take it easy, rest as much as you can and make sure someone is with you for the first week after if you can I’d say, just so you don’t have to keep getting up (then again I had a toddler to look after too😂) Wish you all the best in meeting your baby!👶 🥰

I had an elective section in December at Southend and like you I was absolutely terrified...However, the staff there who took care of me and my son were second to none. I made it clear I was very very nervous and before, throughout and whilst in recovery I was reassured and told at every step what was going on and that all was going well. I asked to play my own music as my son was born and I asked the midwives present to take photos & videos and whilst the video is raw I am forever grateful for literally catching on film my son being born. The staff there for me personally were incredible and the section itself now I look back I wish I had relaxed more
