Second time mum to a 4 month old, my eldest is 8 so it's been a while since I did this first time around! My LO is suffering with reflux, mentioned this at his 8 week review and was just told to give "smaller feeds more often." What point do I have time for myself? Anyways, last couple of weeks it really flared up again, we've brought carobel (after researching thoroughly) and that seemed to have helped but now we've gone backwards.
I've read about Opitbac probiotics and wondered if anyone has used them and has a personal experience with them? Do they work? Are they worth the money? I'm willing to try anything!

I use them for my little girl who has a CMPA! Shes been having them daily for a couple of months and i would say they help her gut, but during this time ive cut dairy and soya from my diet, and shes had a tongue tie cut, so hard to say 100% if its probiotics but i use them religiously! Alot of research to show they help more so then infacol etc

Thank you, I did infacol and it worked at first but then just started to back him up again causing more discomfort π. He's not tongue tie, but does look like he has a high palette. Need to speak to a HV or doctor to have them confirm, I'll give them a go and see if they help. Do you give drops every feed or is it just the morning feed? I was researching last night and could really understand it all π

Yeah infacol isnt great stuff i dont think! My girls got a really high palette too they said hers was caused by her tongue tie as she couldnt fully lift it.
You just give them once a day comes with a syringe, normally do morning but if i forget it ends up being afternoon but doesnt matter if its near a feed or not (i dont think)

Oh bless her, I'm going to get in contact with someone and see if I can get it looked at.
Okay, thought that's what I meant but it was like 2am this morning and I just couldn't make wind of it ππ
Thank you for your help and advice!

We swapped from Dentinox colic drops to the Optibac probiotics a few weeks ago. I couldn't say if it's helped relux massively. I'd say she's spitting up more (she had silent reflux) but I'm putting that down to eating more as I pumped and topped up feeding and now she's had her tongue tie cut (also has very high palette) too - she's gone from just under 0.4th centile at 10w to just under 9th at 19w so obviously eating more.
I made the switch because I'd heard it helps colic/reflux plus increases chances of growing out of cmpa/allergies, and I figured it would be better for her long-term than simeticone. It's not going to do him any harm to try probiotics I think. We give it to our LG once in the morning when we do her vit d drops.

I don't really understand the centile thing, he was 6lb 9oz born at 37+6 and at 16 weeks had only just doubled that so I don't know if that's good, concerning.. I'm going to try the probiotics and speak to my doctors about possible tongue tie and high palette.

Centile is basically percentage of babies of the same age that are lower (so my LG at 2nd centile had 2% of other babies lighter than her). She was 6lb1oz at birth (38+6) and is coming up double (was exactly 12lb yesterday at 19w) so I'd say double at 16w is good.
It's definitely worth mentioning if you're concerned as tongue tie can affect weaning/solids and speech even if it doesn't impact weight/feeding now.
