My son is having quite bad tantrums at the moment and really trying to get boundaries. We have two dogs and he is generally good with them, gentle petting etc.
However for the past week he is insistent on getting into their bed. He’s done this before but only every so often and the dogs were really fine with it. Now he’s doing it ALL THE TIME for attention and actually attempting to roll on top of the dogs, standing up, . not staying still. I obviously can’t let him hurt them and they sometimes bark out to warn him but nothing.
I’ve tried staying calm, explaining why he has to leave the dogs and he can’t try to hurt them. Tried physically removing him each time. I’ve put the dogs in another room for days but this isn’t a long term solution.
It’s absolutely driving me insane and really triggering me. I have a newborn and when my husband leaves and it’s just us he does this 1000 times more so I have to try to stay calm and deal with him while the baby is crying to be fed…
ANY advice greatly appreciated, thank you xxx

This is really hard. Couple things to try: if you can call your dogs to you, call them so they leave the bed any time your toddler gets in. That way he doesn't get any attention and you can ignore it - should stop pretty fast once he learns how boring it is.
The other option is to give your toddler a dog bed of his own. This one works if he actually enjoys the dog's bed and just wants a cosy spot like that / wants to pretend to be a dog atm.
You can also do things like crates so the dogs have their safe space away from toddler, and you can close the doors when toddler is acting up, but this really depends on your dogs and whether you like crating tbh.
