Google is telling me that my baby isn’t healthy from the sheer amount of hiccuping spells she’s been having. I’m 34 weeks and today alone she’s had 4 different spells of hiccups lasting about 10-15 minutes a piece. She’s been hiccuping in me right now for about 20. I went to the doctor on Tuesday and told the nurse that she’s been having a lot more and they’ve been lasting a lot longer but she acted like any concern I had inconvenienced her. I didn’t see my normal doctor and won’t see her for another two weeks. What do I do? Why is she hiccuping so much? What am I doing wrong?

This is news to me, my boy has had the hiccups 3 times today! I’d don’t know it could mean something is wrong! 😟

Fetal hiccups are normal and usually a good sign, indicating that the baby is developing on schedule. They can be caused by the baby practicing breathing, yawning, or suckingle, which causes the diaphragm to contract and move the abdomen in a jerking motion. Hiccups can feel like a soft kick, a pulsing jump, or a regular rhythm, and can occur randomly, several times a day, or more frequently in the third trimester.

However, you should contact your doctor if you notice any of the following:
• Frequency After 32 weeks, it's less common for your baby to hiccup every day. If your baby continues to hiccup daily after this point, you should contact your doctor.
• Duration If your baby's hiccups last over 15 minutes, you should contact your doctor.
• Number of episodes If your baby has three or more series of hiccups in a day, you should contact your doctor.
• Strength If your baby's hiccups seem much stronger than before, you should contact your doctor.

Please don’t go off Google.
If it’s worrying you call your ob and if they’re not open on the weekend they should have an after hour number.
Google is not the best in situations like these and can cause panic. My baby has the hiccups everyday about three times a day and he’s totally fine, I know this because I have to have an ultrasound every week due to diabetes and they check the blood flow from the umbilical cord. Hiccups mean that the baby is developing and growing but if you are extremely worried please please please call your ob or midwife.
I hope everything settles and you can have peace.
Not much longer to go!
You got this and everything will be okay. You’re doing great!

How do fetal hiccups feel like? I can’t tell the difference

they’re very rhythmic! And I feel it in one spot usually since I have an anterior placenta

like little bubbles popping?

kind of! Mine are a little stronger like a little rhythmic thump and they last for around 5 minutes for me
