My five-week-old doesn’t want to eat every 2-3hrs. During the day she will eat closer together! She eats about 2.5-3 ounces most times, but if she's hungry an hr later I feed her an ounce. She's peeing but has a bowel movement every couple of days.. is she not eating enough? She is 9lbs and some ounces.. she’s super healthy otherwise (she is dealing with an eye infection; she got antibiotics today) I’m just worried about the bowel movements and not waking to eat.

My baby is almost 5 weeks. She eats 4 ounces every 3 to 4 hours and sleeps a good 4 to 5 hours at night before waking to eat. So maybe your baby is cluster feeding during the day to sleep better at night? As for the bowel movements I'd ask the pediatrician my baby goes 1 to 2 times a day but every baby is different.

If you're feeding her breast milk it digests a lot better than formula so she won't poop as much but I'd still check with the pediatrician. As far as feeding my little girl is definitely not on the every 2-3 hour schedule either, I think it's just that they feed when they are hungry until they hit a growth spurt and cluster feed but that's just what I'm thinking it is.
