Sen mama friends🧩

Hi I’m Natasha from Manchester. I wanna make some SEN mama friends whether that be through text message or getting out and about.

I have a 2 year old little boy called Roman he’s currently in the process of getting diagnosed with autism and pica. He’s feral I cannot liešŸ« šŸ˜‚ I’m sick of having to explain to people the reasons of the way he is or judgemental people while I’m out and about and it would be lovely if we got together because we understand the difficulties it is to raise such genius energetic bundle of joys.
Drop me a message or comment to make some sen mama friends I feel so alone šŸ§©šŸ’œšŸ’™ā™„ļøšŸ’ššŸ’›

Our 3 year old is currently on the pathway for a diagnosis. She is very much crazy šŸ˜‚ iv been told it's 4 years on the waiting list where I am in Scotland 😢 we are also seeing similar traits in our 2 year old, so all fun and games šŸ˜‚ xx

Avatar

oh no 4 years?? That’s madness! Ahaha I love the chaos but it’s hardwork xx

Avatar

we were told 2 years ,Tommy does say a few words but not in context so trying to push for speech therapy

Avatar

yeah my Roman says mama, dadad and nanan but it’s not directed at anyone I think it could just be babbling. He has said a couple things in the past like ā€œcow, mooā€ but he says it once and never said it again no matter how much we try x

Avatar

I know. Its such a long time, we moved recently and it was 2 years but the new county is 4 😢 xx

Avatar

oh flipping heck! I was told the waiting times is because of the back log from Covid, romans been referred to speech therapy and physio and also something called rhosie which I think is some sort of playgroup for kids on the spectrum that find it difficult to communicate x

Avatar

Hey I have a little boy who's 4 In August, who's severely autistic, ADHD , and non verbal hes also on the path of being diagnosed, although back logged so he won't be fully diagnosed until he is 6 years old 😩😪 it's hard work , and exhausting. And the meltdowns are draining and scary 😨

I have a 9 year old with autism and a 3 year old on the pathway for an assessment! The waits are long but a diagnosis doesn’t change your child so please try not to get disheartened by the long wait! I have been through it once so maybe it’s a little easier for me the second time around so if any of you need any help or support or just to rant/moan as I know it’s not easy I’m more than happy for you to reach out! I don’t know it all but I’m happy to help where I canā¤ļø

Hi šŸ‘‹ my youngest is audhd I'm audhd myself late diagnosed but understand the lack of support from others who don't understand

We got an diagnosis in jan for our little boy who’s 4 I feel like as soon as you get the diagnosis you kind of then just get left and feel alone in the process we have now got his EHCP aswell and he’s going to school in sept which I’m absolutely dreading as it’s mainstream as he couldn’t get into a specialist one. Just not enough schools for our babies to attend who need more support it’s shocking!😢😩 x

hi Hayley I’ll drop you a message x

Hello, my son turned 5 last month and he got his diagnoses at age 3 but honestly I wish I could say it changed anything, with or without the diagnoses, the struggle still remains.

Ladies, my advice would be to not wait around for a diagnoses or speech and language to see you. Please if you are able to ( I know times are hard for everyone) please hire a private speech and language therapist! I have learned so much from mine, she helps and guides me and my son absolutely loves her! Some of you may or may what not be aware of this therapy, but I had gone the ABA therapy route, but that did not work for us, it took a toll on my son, he stopped engaging all together and would cry for hours if we tried to do an activity together. I am praying for all of you, you got this ā™„ļø

Avatar

oh no! This is what I’m scared of… my son needs extra supervision and care. He has no fear or sense of danger, non verbal etc and this is one of fears x

Avatar

Just to add- my son does have the EHCP and he’s in a ASD unit at a mainstream school from September, the unit is great, it’s quiet has lots of space and has a sensory room so it does look promising, however I don’t believe that the schools in the UK are equipped to know how to deal with our SEN children. I know they say, they are trained, but I still do not believe that I will ever find a place for him where he will be fully understood šŸ˜ž
