This is my second child and was thinking it could make my life easier when I drop my 2 year old off to nursery?! Also, if I was to get one do hospitals let you leave with your newborn in one or is it better for me to use the carseat I already have that I used for my son?

It it’s a car seat I don’t see why not

My brother has used a doona for both his daughters and they've loved it x

Doonas do not provide a very good fit for newborns, they are often not supportive enough to be safe and avoid putting their chin on their chest. I know you've said only for school run but just to remember that babies shouldn't be in car seats for any longer than absolutely necessary, up to a maximum of two hours but newborns no longer than 30 minutes ideally.
As for leaving hospital, you're allowed to have you baby in what ever you like, it's your baby and they cannot stop you leaving because you don't have a car seat

oh thanks for this information. I’m really hot on car seat safety etc so I don’t think I will use it for when baby is newborn then. I will stick to the Nuna car seat I had for my son. I’m not a risk taker when it comes to things like this. Thanks so much ☺️

@Charley completely agree with alllllll of this.
Car seat safety is a minefield- definitely an area that needs more correct and safe information being promoted.
