At my first visit from HV I was told my LO could drink through a sippy cup from 4 months old! Has anyone done this yet? LO is almost 4 months old and starting to try holding bottle when being fed. Would you give small amounts of cool boiled water through a sippy cup?
I don’t plan on weaning until 6 months or as close as we can get, LO is a very hungry baby 🤣 so I’m cautious of giving too much extra fluid as don’t want this replacing a feed so obviously would only be giving very small amounts.

Strange advice from your HV. Was she talking about milk from a sippy cup? Normally they suggest that from age 1. Or if she’s talking about water, it’s not normally until wearing at 6 months. Personally I’d only give water at this point if baby was constipated x

Not a sippy cup, but I’ve given my 4 month old water out of an open cup (fully silicone and designed for babies) a few times when it’s been very warm. She had her 16 week jabs on a ridiculously hot day and was off her milk and we were worried about her getting dehydrated and hated the taste of calpol she had to have. She loved it so now we’re giving her little sips on hot days - she mostly just pours it down her front so I don’t think she’s drinking more than 15ml though! And only ever after offering a bottle first, she is formula fed 😊
