People who have had an induction with pitocin but also a natural birth - what is the level of pain difference?

How much stronger and painful are contractions with pitocin versus natural??

My induction was long my first time, i had preeclampsia so i had to get induced. My labor lasted almost 2 full days and it took awhile to get my body into labor but the pitocin contractions sucked and i got the epidural very early cause I’m a big baby with pain! I got it at 4cm! Luckily i had it cause I pushed for 4 hours and she got stuck and it was so painful cause epidural didn’t work as well after a few hours. I still felt pain while
Pushing.

I’m just kinda wondering if there was any way maaaaybe if i went naturally for my second and it wouldn’t hurt as bad if i didn’t have pitocin plus they say second labors are quicker so if i could maybe only push for a couple mins this time maaaaybe i could handle doing natural without the epidural. OR do you think as someone who couldn’t even handle pitocin at 4cm that there is no way this time to do it without?

What was the level of pain difference pitocin versus natural labor?

I did not do my whole second birth natural just to preface... I hit transition got overwhelmed with anxiety as things weren't going as I planned and had a meltdown. The epidural fixed that panic attack 🤣.

But my first birth I was put on Pitocin a few hours in because my water had broken and I couldn't feel my contractions. Pitocin contractions were way worse than what I had my second time and a fear of that pain was a huge part of my anxiety for that birth.

I think if you're mentally prepared...for things to not go your way, equipped with pain management techniques, and a good support you could definitely do natural.

With Pit the hormonal balance of labor is disrupted as Pitocin does not cross the blood-brain barrier so endorphins are not released in response to your increasingly strong and painful uterine contractions. Laboring women do not experience the benefits of endorphins as they try to manage their contractions. Additionally, without the help of endorphins, they are likely to require an epidural.

I was induced with Pitocin and the pain was rough once my water broke but I only labored for about 1.5 hours before pushing and did it pain med free!
My sis in law went into labor naturally and ended up getting the epidural because the pain was so bad for soooo long.
For me, I feel like even though it was intense with ththe Pitocin, it was also much faster which feels more manageable to be personally.

But you know deep down what you want! Go with your instincts!

My first birth occurred naturally. Funnily he was born the day before induction lol.
I was induced with my second. Unless absolutely necessary, would never do it again. The pain of the contractions was amplified to a crazy degree and I had an epidural with both births. I was in labor for hours but thankfully once it was time to push, she was out in 3 pushes.
Everyone is different though. Some have a good experience, others have a horrible one.

It’s a pretty big difference honestly lol I had no pain relief for either and I didn’t realise how bad it was until I didn’t have the pitocin. My induction wasn’t unbearably painful or long but my contractions were constant. If I was lucky I had about 10 seconds of down time in between. I was hot and tired and it just made everything seem so much worse. For my completely unmedicated birth I had a good 3 minute in between each contraction, I was able to relax between, and didn’t feel like I was just fighting to make it through. Pushing felt a lot more natural and not like my body was trying to launch her out lol

I didn’t have pitocin with my induction but did want to talk about speed of labour. With my first I was induced with tape then went naturally from there I asked for the epidural at 5cm. The second one I went into labour naturally and knew it could be quicker I only got to 4cm and asked for the epidural unfortunately I went from 4-10 in 40 minutes so did not have time to get it as she was coming out. Pushed with the first for 2 hours and needed vacuum out. Second she was out in one contraction of pushing.

I was induced with my first, took a few days. Was extremely painful and had an epidural. Second was a water birth and although it was painful it was nothing like the induction. If I ever fall pregnant again I would refuse induction.

Pain of induction was 1000000000/10 & spontaneous labour with no pain meds was a 10/10. Induction was soooo much more painful & slow for me.

I needed an epidural for induction and did not need an epidural for spontaneous labour. It definitely fucking hurts but it was doable.
