Pump issues elvie / momcozy

Hi all. So I started my journey with a momcozy v1.... The motor keeps breaking and the parts degrade waaay too fast I'm nearly 4 months in and spent hundreds replacing bits. But it empties me so well and maintains a very good supply. I recently got an elvie stride. Which I love as it doesn't chafe like the momcozy does and it is so discreet and great for going out and about. Problem is I've had issues where the cups separate as I take it out my bra (so I lose a whole 180ml) or the duckbills fall off mid pump so I have to empty and clean it before I can put it back on. I also find the elvie is not emptying me as well as the momcozy and doesn't hold as much. I really want the elvie to work for me. Is there a trick to make it empty the full breast? I'm rather large Chested. Also is there something I'm doing that's causing the parts to fall off or separate

The Elvie stride has to be bone dry or else it loses suction mid pump and can fall apart it sucks. However it is hospital grade suction which works very well. What makes you think it’s not emptying? Large breasts don’t mean more milk. You can chat with the 24/7 Elvie Support and if you have proof of purchase they offer 90 day warranty on parts and will replace for free. There are also tons of Facebook groups of moms selling new / lightly used pumps for much less if you want to try something new that might work for you.

I used momcozy s12 pro for 12 months with my first and I found the parts always broke and I ended up having them on speed dial replacing parts. So this time round I’m trying elvie stride and I’ve definitely noticed that just doing 1 boob at a time makes the suction stronger (if you can be bothered trying this) but I’m also trying to control my supply as I definitely had wayyyy to much milk with my first and it just made my boobs extremely heavy so we’re doing breastfeeding then a 3 min pump after (good luck!!) x

@Katelyn it's not emptying me a si have large lumps on the side of my breast. It doesn't pull from that area it seems. I know large boobs don't mean more milk but it's difficult to find pumps that get me fully emptied with their size. I had similar issues with the spectra over time I started getting lumps Im also making sure it's totally dry. I'm getting a good output but I'm just finding I have lumps and I'm going to end up with mastitis if that continues as it's already been feeling like it's burning.I've been having to do 2x pumps a day with the momcozy to make sure the lumps aren't there I also struggle because I need a 28mm flange on one breast and momcozy only do 27 so it's just too small so I end up with more chafing

@Louise interesting. I’ve just had my 2nd motor go. Not ideal. I have the pipetta’s. They are great at draining the inner boob and rubbish at draining the armpit side for me. I’ve ended up with mastitis twice and needing antibiotics and other treatment. I also have an ARDO and is helpful to drain the full boob.

@Tegan Gigg this is basically my issue! The side boob and armpit area is what isn't draining. Elvie is hit and miss with it. The momcozy works wonders for me in that regard. I was hoping to go just to the elvie but I am going to keep up the momcozy to ensure I don't get mastitis for now every few pumps. I've used my momcozy twice since posting this and the burning and lumps are gone One thing I have found is if I slightly angle the pumps to where I need it to drain.... It does help

@Louise good to know. Such a weird feeling hey. My boob looks so differently shaped when it happens. Glad you’ve found a balance that’s working well enough for you now.

Cant lie i have the elvie it was great for colostrum but its shit now my milk has come in. I honestly prefer the bellababy amazon pumps. The bellababy are a lot noisier but i cant be stuck to a wall 24/7 using my spectra
