I was making my newborns bottle in the dark in our room and accidentally “filled” the bottle with an empty compartment of the formula container. Just enough “crumbs” left behind to change the colour of the bottle slightly. Was so bad to see in the dark. Do I need to take baby to emergency? They drank about 30ml of it.

Water not encourage to be drank because they have no nutrition in it. Especially for newborn. Plus their stomach size is too small therefore breastmilk and formula you should be feeding.
Dont panic, all you expect was your newborn will be getting hungry soon due to drinking water.
If you have any concern you can call parental helpline on 1300130052

I'd get your baby checked, they're not supposed to drink water. It's hard lokomg after a newborn, please be kind to yourself

Call 1300 health for peace of mind. They are really helpful. However, I have seen this posted several times on various mums groups so don’t stress it seems like a common mistake. Just monitor bubs closely for any changes as water can bad for them due to their kidneys not being properly developed yet. But, based on the various other posts I have seen like this, I think a small one off amount should be okay

I’d call your midwife to double check but we have given our bub water from 2 months old little bits won’t hurt x

I think 30ml would be okay. The danger is "water intoxication" but I think it would definitely take more than 30ml

This happened to me when my son was a newborn, it was dark and I was sleep deprived. It’s an honest mistake mama.
Bub should be ok, keep a close eye on them just to be sure and if you’re really concerned or worried call the 1300healyh number.
