Drinking water

My son is 13 months old. I am struggling to get him to drink water. What recommendations do you guys have to get him to drink water. Because I heard it’s not good to keep always giving him juice even though it’s watered down.

I’ve noticed my son won’t drink water out of certain cups. I got him these nuby straw ones and they leave a funny taste after you wash them so I’d look out for if it’s a silicone bottle it might have a funky taste. I invested in getting him a stainless steel and he drinks alot more from that. Apart from that sometimes I give him some hint water for a special drink when I feel like he’s not drinking enough and he usually loves that since it’s flavored. It’s pretty much la croix for babies since there’s no carbonation.

I struggled with this problem too and it started becoming a real problem for my girl and she became really constipated. I cleared it with her doctor first but I bought some strawberry/ cherry flavored liquid IV and I mixed a tiny bit in her water. Just enough to flavor the water and not the actual proportions. She loves it and I knew it would hydrate her quickly. We use it in times of desperation.

So.... He sees us drink water. He gets water with meals. And we always have water available for all of us .

Maybe squeeze a little lemon or orange into it for a little flavor?

I second the different cup suggestion. My little one drinks water out of her straw cup just fine but pretty much refuses anything else from the same type, but she will take it from an open cup.

I’m not sure on what age you can let them drink it but Cirkul released a kids brand of water flavors and small water bottle! I bought one for my son but I haven’t tried it yet

My trick is he loves my cup. Whatever I drink he wants to drink. I don’t mind the germs if he’s not sick. I don’t love it. But one of our normal open cups and a plastic straw do the trick. He’ll drink it if it’s not one of his cups. lol he has a water bottle that’s offered to him all the time. But he’ll drink around 8oz of water if I offer him my water cup or an adult looking cup. I do hold the cup and it’s mainly at like meal times. I considered keeping one of those kids like plastic to go cups the disposable ones and just doing that to see if it gets him to drink it too. 😂 because at restaurants he will! I’ve considered designating my cup as his now and then getting my own private cup. Lol idk. Just what I’ve noticed for us.

My LO refused to drink water out of anything but a teaspoon until we tried the Dr Brown first sippy cup. Now she wouldn’t stop drinking water lol
