I’m a mum of 3 children. I have a son who’s 5, a daughter who’s just turned 2 and a baby who’s 3 months old.
My son has SEN and has meltdowns over things that can trigger him. My daughter is going through the terrible 2s so there’s tantrums involved and my little baby obviously cries to let me know she needs me.
Sometimes all of them are crying at the same time..this is when I find it overwhelming and it’s not so much that I feel overwhelmed trying to resolve each issue it’s the noise that really overwhelms me.. and it’s even worse when the dog starts barking as well..
my son has ear defenders for when he finds things to noisy and was wondering if something similar for me would be ok?
Like for when the noise gets overwhelmingly to much and I can’t just take 5 minutes. Or would it be classed as neglect? I’d still be tending to my kids needs.
This ADHD lady on social media uses these things called loop earplugs which are noise cancelling..

I completely feel your pain!! I don’t see why you can’t use them as you say you’re still tending to them, it’s not like you’re putting them in and leaving them too it!
It’s so hard being a mum sometimes so cut your self some slack and get them! Hopefully they’ll help you. X
thank you. Looking more at the range they have and they have some that says they’re good for parenting and social situations. While I don’t think they’re totally noise cancelling they reduce the noise so might give those ago so I can still hear somewhat x

I have the loop experience earplugs and they are brilliant!
I was getting overwhelmed with my 4 year old and 3 month old, and with the tv on and noisy toys it was all too much and made me feel on edge sometimes.
I found just wearing one was enough to take the edge off, and even with both in I can still hear what’s happening enough to parent and respond to their needs. It just takes everything down from 11.
Only normally needed to wear them for 15-30 minutes, enough for the situation and the noise to calm down, but it means I can think clearly and manage what’s happening rather than getting overstimulated and stressed and snapping at someone.
