Hello, mostly a vent post and some questions I guess.
I’m a first time mom and my pregnancy was stressful because of some family issues and moving across the country mid pregnancy. My OB had me induced even when I expressed that I didn’t want to. She scared me into thinking that if I didn’t I’d be risk baby’s life even though we didn’t have any complications or anything.
My labor experience was a nightmare. I went in the 20th of March to get induced, the gave me pitocin and the balloon to help my cervix. First the nurses couldn’t get my iv in and failed 3 times (mind you I’m an easy stuck).
After about 6 hours my water broke and they bumped my pitocin up from a 4 to a 6, the contractions I was feeling had me screaming and the night nurse I had told me I was scaring the other women. She also refused to turn it down when I asked saying all she could do was give me pain meds via iv or give me an epidural. So I got the epidural that I didn’t want at 3am. (I have trauma from previous spinal taps gone wrong so I didn’t want a needle near my back nor was I a fan of fentinal in my body.)
I wouldn’t dilate past 4cm and by the next morning mine and baby’s heart rates were plummeting. I couldn’t get up or move because of the epidural and I was exhausted from being in so much pain the whole night. They called it and said I needed to get an emergency c section.
I was terrified and I was shaking so bad and i broke down crying on the table. I begged them to put me under or something and they said they couldn’t because it was too risky so they gave me some kind of anxiety medicine instead. The first dose made me dizzy and I kept asking where my partner was. Nobody would answer me and eventually he was escorted in right as they were cutting me open.
I still have flashbacks of how cold the table was and the room, the bright lights and the blue sheet in front of me. It took 3 minutes for my baby to finally cry, I’m thankful that my baby was fine and all but the whole thing is so traumatic.
I guess my questions are am I alone in this? Am I crazy for how I feel? Am I wrong to think that I was pushed into the induction?
I just don’t know….

Oh girl ❤️❤️❤️ I’m so so sorry this happened to you. I had a similar experience with my July 22 baby. I still have some bad flashbacks but time heals and talking about it helps! Birth trauma is a crazy thing but does soften as time goes.

It’s crazy I had the same experience with my second! I swear definitely on ptsd level of traumatizing

I had a similar experience, they then pressured me into a feeding tube and formula 1 day pp despite having an excellent latch and making plenty of colostrum. Every time I think of my hospital experience I feel rage, I know I was ripped off.
but I’m grateful my girl is here and thriving and next time I’ll be so much stronger and more confident. So sorry you went through this mumma ❤️

How far along were you? Some doctors wouldn't induce you unless you are past your due date. I was induced with my first child, and I had my son at 41 weeks + 1 day, laboured, I had the gas, 2x shots or Morphine, and Epidural, my cervix was stuck at 6 or 7 cm and would not progress after 3 hours, and they had to rush me to get an emergency C-section as he was in distress. I, too, was shaking on that table, scared and crying. I was a bit traumatised, but I thought, "If I didn't get a c-section, he wouldn't be here."
Sending you love, mumma! 🫂
they started talking about it when I was 35 weeks, they had me induced at 39 weeks and he was born 2 days before I would have been 40 weeks. They didn’t even want me to wait till then, I had 0 complications prior to being induced and my baby was perfectly healthy and active while still in my belly so there shouldn’t have been a reason for me to have been induced and they wouldn’t tell me anything else other than “if you don’t the baby will probably die “

So sorry to hear that! I went through the exact same situation when I went into hospital in March with my first born!
It was v traumatising as I felt pressured every step of the way for my birth to be medicalised (they manually broke my waters, put in a catheter, one failed IV ending with me covered in blood, baby monitor attached to my baby’s head, unsuccessful pitocin induction which ended up with emergency c-section), despite me insisting on a natural delivery and progression.
They told me my baby could die/get stuck/be in distress and that I was risking his life despite there being no complications (only a long labour). One of the docs said if ‘anything bad happened’, he didn’t want the hospital to be ‘held responsible’ or ‘sued’ so I got the impression that they were covering themselves, more than advocating for me or my baby.
You can make an appointment to speak with the docs/hospital about your birth experience to understand why they did what they did & get some closure.

Aww girl sorry to hear that. I’m in the exact same situation as you. Me and baby were perfectly healthy and got induced for no reason. Had C-section and now flashbacks which is ptsd. I know others as well this happened to. It’s a worldwide problem. World Health Organization has even talked about it- C section rates are too high and should be half of what it is. Many are unnecessary. Are you in the US? US is even higher at 33% women have C-section
