When I had my first and went back to work I reduced my hours and availability I was only working two days as that’s when I have my son at nursery.
Now I’m back after my 2nd but for this month I’m working 1 day and the other day I’ve taken it as holiday as our annual leave renews every July. Next month it’ll be back to two days. Personally that’s all I can do as I don’t want to pay for more days at nursery and I want to be able to spend more time with my babies x
does that mean you had to ask for flexible working? I’ve considered decreasing my hours but in my office people who are part time end up doing work in their time off to “finish” projects which to me doesn’t make sense may as well be paid for it.

I work in sales so maybe it’s a little more flexible as I don’t have projects like yourself and my manager was more than accommodating wanted my return to be as easy for me as possible so actually suggested some flexibility. I also only take a 30 mins break, which means I finish 30mins earlier than my shift time this makes it easier for my nursery pick ups.
I’d say do what works best for you,see how the first month goes with the reduced hours and increase it from there.
