So I’ve spoken to the community midwives who are fully booked and can’t fit me in for my 12 weeks scan between 11-14 weeks 😟 I feel very stressed about this and they just said I could have another test at 20 weeks but frankly I’ll be half way through then and will have spent however long worrying if something is wrong. Has anyone paid privately for a NIPT test?

That’s really bizarre they can’t book a 12 week scan not heard of that before. If you haven’t cancelled one or not turned up to one etc. then I would probably try and take it further if possible.
I would personally book a private scan if that had happened to me just to put my mind at rest if despite trying to take it further they couldn’t get you a scan.
When I had my 20 week scan with my last pregnancy they couldn’t do the heart checks as my little boy wasn’t in the right position. They didn’t have any appts to rebook in our hospital but they organized one at the next nearest at the same trust.
Hope it works out for you

That is disappointing and disgusting! What if something is wrong and you have no idea!! I would ask if they have a different option for you so you can have a scan, even at a different hospital but same trust if that’s an option? Say waiting until 20 weeks isn’t going to be an option and they are going to have to find another solution list all the reasons why 20 weeks is not okay for you. Ask the person on the end of the phone if they would be happy to wait 20 weeks themselves. I’ve read a lot of stores recently and people’s inductions and c-sections being cancelled including myself. So sorry you have to be put in this predicament x

I wouldn’t accept this. They need to either fit you in or at least refer you to somewhere that can fit you in!

This is crazy. The 12 week scan is a standard part of your antenatal care. They have to fit you in or find you somewhere to have it done. It’s the first chance to screen for abnormalities and get a more accurate due date.
You shouldn’t have to go private to receive this basic care. Speak to the midwives again and tell them this is unacceptable and you expect them to find a solution.

I'm sorry that you're not able to get your scan. I know that can feel super worrisome. My scans were always way layer than they were "supposed" to be. I'm going to obviously be the odd person out and say you don't NEED the scan. I completely understand wanting the scan and you may be able to have your scan at a free standing radiology center, if your midwifes are able to write an order. There are many mama's who refuse all scans besides the 20-week anatomy scan (which is where they usually find any possible abnormalities) because of the possible harm multiple ultrasounds can cause. For my next pregnancy, I'll be doing that. That being said, I hope you're able to find a solution!

They should at least be able to call you if they have a cancellation . Just keep ringing every day

Call PALS at your hospital. They should be able to talk to the department. I find that usually the departments in hospitals suddenly respond really quickly once it has been escalated as this is not acceptable.

please take this further. this is disgusting. the 12 week scan is so reassuring.
I’m on the list but she said they were absolutely inundated and it makes me think what will it be like nearer to my due date. I was left for hours to labour alone at the same hospital so considering elsewhere
