I need shoe help! I finally have a walker!!

Milo shoes (he’s had since January!) are getting on the tight side now so wanted to buy some bigger but now he’s starting to walk I’m wondering if it’s best to hold out abit longer and buy proper shoes? If so what brand do we all recommend? Were currently using Clarks do we just stay with them or is there a better brand? Do I get more pre Walker shoes or proper hard sole shoes? I can’t believe it after completely loosing hope the difference from yesterday today is incredible! This video was this morning but by this afternoon he was walking everywhere with very little crawling! If your babs not there yet hold on to that hope! Milo literally decided he wanted to walk 24 hours ago and now he’s constantly walking it just happens out of no where!

Well done Milo 👏 I'd say if the shoes are getting tight then get new shoes sooner rather than later, as it's important for their foot developed. Regards to brands it's totally up to you, I know lots of mums who still use Clarks now their little ones are walking x

I asked about this yesterday, most people suggested sticking with pre-walkers for a while https://www.peanut-app.io/share/804VtxMzyMb

I'm a team soft shoes/barefoot. I would stick to pre walker style ones and by the time he needs winter shoes, you can decide whether you want to stick with soft sole or go hard sole. I would just make sure his shoes are wide enough so they don't squish his toes

Thank you ladies I’ll defo look at getting some more pre walker shoes just didn’t know if it was worth it with the price of them to then have to swap shoes while they still fit him if that makes sense 😅 hopefully this time it’s easier to find some 🤦🏼‍♀️ our local Clarks is awful tbh and I ended up getting them of the internet but it took a month from getting him measured to finding some nice shoes in his size 🤦🏼‍♀️

I was all for getting some more pre walker shoes but out of curiosity I dug out some shoes we brought him a while ago which are still to big for him to see how he is with them and he seems to walk better in hard sole shoes even though they’re about a size to big? Is this normal?

Some parents go with hard sole from start, so it's up to you. They need about a finger size space, maybe the first video ones are too small? He looks more stable in 2nd, but then I would say his most realistic walk is without any shoes

@Lenka I’m abit unsure what to do to be honest. There’s about 24 hours between the videos so he was bout to be more stable in the second but it looks as though he balances better in hard sole rather than soft 🤷🏼‍♀️ especially with him not being able to stand yet (he’s doing it all backward 🤣) there’s honestly very little difference between him walking in shoes to bare foot but I think that’s because he’s learnt to walk while wearing shoes which is obviously harder. He doesn’t really wear shoes much at all just when we leave the house or at nursery but the nursery he’s at requires him to wear shoes while outdoors which is 75% of the day through May-October. He’s back at nursery on Friday after 6 weeks of so could do with figuring out shoes sooner rather than later 😅 the ones he’s got fit him but they’re just on the tighter side and starting to get difficult to put on but the ones in the second video are 2 sizes bigger than the ones in the first video so I need to get the in between size

Did you do a cut out of his shoe on a cardboard? The actual size and how it feels to us in their shoe is so deceiving - Mia looked okay, but her foot was actually touching both ends. It's not a great deal of walking he's gonna do in nursery for a bit, so whichever you choose for now it's gonna be fine. If you're undecided, I would do the cut out, so you know the size, go to a shop and try soft and hard ones on him and see which ones seem better for you. Just make sure you do cut out when he's standing as their foot is a tiny bit bigger then compared to when foot in the air

@Lenka I didn’t even think of doing that! I’ve pulled one of the inserts out of his hard sole shoes and stud him up on that and there’s plenty of room around his foot but they are different to big in length 🤣

@Katie Asda have some pre walker shoes now for literally £6.50, we’ve gone for these while she’s still gaining confidence in shoes and her feet are growing quickly

@Chloe we went to Clark’s this morning and just got him some proper shoes. We asked for their opinion while we was there and then we compared the difference watching him watch in pre walkers then watched him walking in hard sole shoes and we agreed the hard sole shoes seem better for him and he’s steadier in them.
