Think I’m in labour??
I’m having an almost intolerable back ache, with period pains but doubtful as not waves coming and going. Just consistent pain and my belly isn’t coming and going tight it’s just staying hard.
At my 38 week midwife appointment today she said baby very low 1/5 and my BP was high on two occasions so she said she’d come to my house and repeat in 48 hours. This is my latest reading.
When I was doubtful a few days ago and called MAU I was told if no waters / show then to stay home so just feel stupid ringing again

I’d go into triage, that’s a very high reading for blood pressure. Hope you’re okay 🫶🏻x
I would ring with that blood pressure alone, it’s very high. It could be due to pain or there could be other serious causes x
Thing is with the BP alone last time my BP was high they were telling me these home monitors for personal use aren’t calibrated for pregnancy therefore are not accurate ? So that’s why just feel silly going in for that
I’d still go in, especially if you had high readings with your midwife appointments, I’m surprised she didn’t get you to go into hospital! Definitely don’t feel silly for getting reassurance x
Home monitoring is still recommend and encouraged by NHS England, some machines aren’t but not all. The other issue with home machines is if they’re not used often they can need recalibrating. Manual is more reliable but even in hospital they use machines. Sit down for 2-3 minutes in a comfortable position, and rest your arm on the side of the couch (same level as your heart) and then take it. I would then repeat on your other arm doing the exact same. See if they are both consistent and if still high I would contact them. It’s not worth the risk x
also, did you go in last time and them check your BP?
I have been told to monitor my BP at home and it is consistent with the manual readings my midwife gets
Yes please call and insist on being seen. It doesn’t sound like labour as such. But the BP is a big concern and could be a sign of pre-eclampsia or gestational hypertension x
anything over 140/90 is classed as hypertension, I’d just ring and go in as things can move pretty quickly with preeclampsia and other complications x

Thanks ladies. Had bloods taken and was discharged for now. Bloods will be reviewed today and they believe BP is pain related as in early labour. But also trace protein in urine so will be sending for testing to determine preeclampsia. BP shall be repeated tomorrow at home with midwife. So let’s see! Hopefully it’s just baby making way out xx
