I was told I have a low lying placenta at my 20 week scan and have been offered a scan at 34 weeks. I have researched a lot and it mentions advice against flying. I have a holiday booked for two weeks time and now worried 😟 did anyone fly after receiving this information?

I did. I flew just after, at 23 weeks and then 24 (long haul). I asked at the hospital and they saw no problem with it. I think it depends on how low your placenta is and whether you've experienced any bleeding. I was panicking at the time but the flight was to go get married so I decided to do it and everything was fine. It's so hard to make these decisions but ultimately you gotta do what's right for you x

I have a low lying placenta, I had booked to fly at 28 weeks, and my midwife wouldn’t provide me a fit to fly letter and advised against it, so I decided not too! They say due to the risk of bleeding etc, I probably wouldn’t have been fine but was too scared to risk it, so it’s up to you! I’m still in the process of getting my money back now🙄

i flew at 23 weeks and had one too. every was fine with flying etc and no problems there. midwife provided me with a fit to fly letter, and didn’t even suggest not to travel. at my 32 week scan my placenta had moved also x
