Overdue help

I'm so sorry this has happened to you abd that your midwife has reacted like this. Where I am, I have my allocated midwife, but can then ring the maternity unit for help and advice. Do you have something similar? You could request through them an alternative midwife or explain what it is you're asking for but not being heard about.

The medical care team have to follow your wishes so if you're at term and you want a c section they should book you in. You're within your rights to change midwife if you feel they aren't supporting your decision.

You can state that elective c sections produce less cortisol for baby as well, which can support baby after birth and you.

Just be aware that as the hormonal cascade isn't "naturally" triggered the milk normally.comes in around day 5, so you might want some back up formula in September

I had my baby at 42 weeks and she was just snoozing if that helps ease any nerves around the gestation. Term describes a baby any time from 37 weeks onwards, and some countries don't describe "overdue" until past 42.

I am the same as you. Just try everything you can to get baby out naturally. I have until Sunday, until my first sweep. I have been told if both sweeps don’t work then induction which I have told her I do not want. So I will say that again to her that I want a c section.

With sweeps, if they don't work don't get upset, they're a great tool to know where you are. And I'd recommend speaking to your midwife about the process and what they're looking for.

Also, try to chill and relax. Yoga is a fantastic tool towards the latter stages of pregnancy as it can help reduce stress hormones and boost oxytocin, which can help to naturally induce labour.

So I called midwife today and said how much I'm struggling and what even is the point of these sweeps if I'm going to opt for a c- section anyway. I've had 4 different midwifes throughput so it didn't matter who I was speaking to but she said okay I'll refer you. Ive been referred to speak to a consultant however the earliest availability is 41 + 4 days and there are 10 other people in front of me so I don't have an option. I just can't be bothered anymore I have no choice and feel so let down by the care as I can't do what I actually want. I feel like I'm already struggling with mental health now and over the next week it's only going to get worse. Sorry for the rant but I just feel so neglected and there's no way to get this baby out of me and it's making me not want to even meet him 😔 I've tried every trick in the book to instigate labour, other than eating a full spicy curry as my reflux wouldn't allow more than 3 mouthfuls.

@Alexandra literally in the exact same boat, I don't understand how they can leave it so late! I feel like having no issues just means we are left to one side - I had 3 scans in total and 1 was a growth scan that I should have had 2 weeks before! My meeting with the consultant at 41 + 4 and there being 10 people ahead of me I don't understand how he will even be out by 42 weeks! I hope you're coping okay with it as I know I'm sure not! X

What if you went in for an induction but at the hospital asked for a C-section? Instead of trying to go down midwife route

@Donya my hospital induction will be at the 41+6 ish time anyway so it doesn't really make any difference with the timing of it. I can request it if my waters break and I go in but I just feel like I was told I had a choice all along and now when I've made my choice that I can't have It. As a FTM nothing has been made clear about any of this process to me and I don't even know if he's going to be out by 42 weeks at this point 🙃
