so i'm exclusively breastfeeding my 4 week old, but want my husband to give her a bottle once a week to give me a rest - so i've used the haakaa once or twice a day to collect the letdown milk whilst feeding off one breast, also been hand expressing a bit before each feed. i don't own a pump. we tried the bottle last night and he gave her 100ml - she accepted it no problem, but then was super alert and wanted to breastfeed anyway!
any advice about when the best time of day is to use the haakaa or whether there's a better way of doing this plan?

When my mum helps me feed I normally do breast first then let her do the last stretch with a bottle and that seems to be working okay. I get the most let down from the haakaa in the morning and store it in the fridge then usually get my mum to feed baby late evening so I can go get some sleep before doing the night feeds. My health visitor has told me that it's okay for me to do one formula bottle in the evening too since baby is very hungry and it allows for me to pump but also get a longer stretch of sleep since formula fills their stomachs longer. One bottle a day won't impact breast feeding as long as you bf in the night ( past midnight to early morning) is the advice I was given :) xx

I give 140ml expressed milk before bed whilst I pump. When he finishes the bottle he goes on my boob for a few minutes before he's ready for bed. Not sure how he has any space left but it's not for long and maybe just the familiarity? Anyway, he has a few gulps and he is ready for sleep
