When can you take your baby swimming?
I’m planning on taking my 4 month old to baby swimming classes but they don’t start until next term, and I’d love to take him to the pool before hand. I know babies need warmer water of a certain temperature, but I can’t find any baby specific pools other than via baby swim classes. Are babies able to go to the children’s pool at a standard leisure centre as they’re slightly warmer? Or does it need to be a specific baby pool? I have seen lots of people talk about taking their babies swimming so I’m wondering if I can just take him!

We started swimming lessons with our little boy when he was 4 months old. The lessons were only half an hour long & that was as long as he could do as the water was too cold for him. So it will be fine as long as you don't go over half an hour. It all depends on the temperature of the water though.
My daughter started swim classes at 8 weeks for half hour sessions at baby swimming where the water is warmer. We took her to 2 hotels and in the Pool there one was cold and she screamed so we were straight out but in another it was slightly warm and she loves it. She cries when she first goes in but once she is in she adjusts and I keep her close to my chest for her comfort. They were both in normal pools so it's up to you. Just be sure to give your little one a bath after as I believe chlorine can irritate there skin x
I took my small baby swimming at 10 weeks - it was n a heated pool
We started water babies at 4 weeks old. The pool is a hydropool so they stay in for about half hour. When he was about 3 months old we went to Lanzarote and he went into the normal pool for about 10 mins at a time because it was too cold.
You can take babba to a normal pool at 4 months old and they should be alright for 15 mins in the pool (ish).
Get a proper wetsuit from splash babies they’re fleece lined and keep them cozy in normal pool temperatures! I’ve been taking my boy swimming since he was 5 weeks old and he loves it
