Does anyone know when you get the Mat B 1 form? And how do you get it? Do they send it to you? I’m keen to get things sorted with work … one less thing to think about!
I may be missing this on the Gov website - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/maternity-certificate-mat-b1-guidance-for-health-professionals/maternity-certificate-form-mat-b1-guidance-on-completion

Yes I was thinking this because I'm supposed to give it in 15 weeks before due date I believe but my last midwife appointment was 16w and my next one is 28w 😂..

I rang the GP a couple of weeks after 20 week scan and the community midwife left it for me to pick up at surgery.

I have called the company i was employed from and they sent it to me after I think you need to go to a job center to apply this is what they told me

I know you normally get it around 24 weeks appointment with midwife but I got mine off my dr as I needed to sort work out before my appointment. X

I was handed mine at my 20week scan x

I spoke to my midwife after my 20 weeks scan and she left it at the reception for me at the place I go for my appointments so after your 20 weeks scan I’d suggest giving your midwife a call or even text if you can get in contact with her

Thanks everyone! That’s great. Really helpful. I’ll call my midwife and see if she can get it for me 😊

After your first baby you don't get a 24 week appointment 🫠 my next is 28w. I'd rung up and left a voicemail 🤷🏼♀️

Ask for it at your 20 week if you’ve not already had it. If not ask your midwife for it at your next appointment. My midwife told me to talk photos of it just in case your work lose it!

Must be different midwives cause I have a 24 week appointment and this isn’t my first baby, I think everywhere is different but I would deffo call up x

I pick up mine next week at my 22w midwife appointment

After the 20 week scan you can just pop in to the hospital/midwives to get one usually, though each trust is different. For first time pregnancies you have a 25 week appointment so could get it then. My next midwife is 28 weeks this time but I had to see the OB today and so just saw the admin office and they sorted (took 2 seconds). Could’ve also done it straight after the scan if in same place.

Also don’t panic about the weeks! Yes employers like to have it and technically should be available to present by 25 weeks but as long as you’ve and I’d do so in writing informed them of your pregnancy 15 weeks before the due date and say you are going to send the Matb1 form as soon as you collect at your next appointment, that is sufficient and most won’t have an issue. I wasn’t sure I’d get it today and so had already said to HR I may not have this until 28 weeks but here is my scan showing due date and I’m telling you now I’m pregnant. Just keep communicating with them and it should be fine. But to ease any stress you should be able to just pop in and get it anytime.

Your midwife can give it anytime after 20 weeks or should do!
For me it’s always been the midwife who completes the form and gives it straight after 20 weeks.

I got mine from my midwife when I was 12 weeks x

I popped into the midwife’s when I had my 20 week scan and they printed, dated and signed it there and then x

Just got it at my 24 wk midwife appt.

I got mine after my 20 week scan, I had to text my midwife and she left it at the doctors reception for me x

I’m 21 weeks and got mine yesterday. You can request it after your 20 week scan through your midwife xx
