If baby can’t wear a coat in a car seat, what do I dress them in to come home from hospital?

A long sleeve vest, a onesie and either a nice thick cardigan or fleece thing with a blanket over their knees ? Just worried they’ll be too cold because I’m due back end of November so deep into winter bbrrrr 🥶

The car will be warm. And most hospitals have a pick up point right outside the door. All baby needs is a vest, baby grow, cardigan and blanket

Vest, baby grow and cardigan, pop a blanket on them waist down in the car seat, that should be fine 😊

I’ve packed two blankets just incase the end of November is freezing so the hospital to the car isn’t too bad for him

I had my 1st in Sweden when it was -16 and it was cold in the car while I scraped the ice off the outside - I asked about and Swedish parents all keep a stash of wool blankets in the car

Why can’t you put them in the all in one snowsuit things?

I'm putting a vest, baby grow or maybe a fleecy baby grow and blanket over the seat and one of the little hats. Car will warm up then we'd be straight into the house.

Not a thick cardigan or fleece, just a normal one. The idea is layers rather than thickness. So vest, onesie and thin cardigan, blanket over the top.

Amazing thank you so much ladies for all the advice! I really appreciate it ❤️

@Ruth these are not safe, you should not add anything to the car seat under baby or around straps as the seat hasn't been tested with it. Also babies get very hot in car seats so you don't need to cocoon them!
