Hi all I'm struggling to transition my LO to sleep with his arms out. Ever since he was born he's only ever been able to sleep swaddled. When he was newborn we'd swaddle him in a blanket. Since then we've always used the tomee tippee gro-bags. For the past 2 months or so, he took preference to sleeping either on his side or on his front, and would use the sleeping bag as leverage to flip himself over, before he could roll independently when awake. He's got amazing head control and I pay close attention to it, he's always able to lift his head and will frequently adjust it side to side through the night while sleeping. The issue is he's not yet able to flip himself back over so if he gets restless I have to roll him myself, also because his arms are tucked I always have to pop his dummy back in through the night.
I'd like for him to get used to sleeping with his arms out so he can learn to do these things on his own, but whenever I've attempted to free his arms (even one at a time) he just flails them around its almost like he doesn't know what to do with them, then he'll get agitated and start crying. He'll also pull his dummy out of his mouth to suck on his hands, but then gets frustrated if he can't get it back into his mouth and will cry. He just fidgets and whines none stop until eventually I tuck his arms back in then he'll go to sleep immediately š© I'm worried that he should be able to sleep with his arms out by this stage. Especially now he's learning to roll independently. Looking for advice as a FtMš«¶š¼
Picture of my bubs in his fav position𤣠(sometimes ill unzip the bottom as he likes to tuck his legs up) but I make sure to zip it back up before I go to sleep so it can't lift any higher up his bodyāŗļø

Hi I also struggled with this, my LO was fine with one arm free but once I freed both she was so restless and couldn't stay asleep without flailing her arms around and waking herself up. We're now on our second night trying out a tog sleepsuit and that's working much better for us so far!

My little one was never swaddled but we have to hold her hands as she falls asleep, you could try that? It's only for five mins or so then she won't flail for the rest of the night.
