Naps/ Bedtime

Do any of you all still rock baby to sleep? Or do they fall asleep on their own? Need some help. My baby is a great sleeper just has a hard time falling asleep. Some advice on how to get baby to nap on there own or fall asleep on there own. My baby sleeps in his crib for the night but usually naps on the couch

I’ve done nursing till he falls asleep but I’ve been weening him off of that and letting him cry it out. I know it’s a hard thing to do I definitely struggled with it but now it’s so much easier. I’ve heard start with 5 minutes come in let him know he’s ok and then try 10 minutes but it all depends on how long you’re comfortable with letting him cry. But since we’ve done that bed time is so much easier and he sleeps through the night.

Transitioning them to the crib for naps so they have one set place specifically for sleeping may help! It’ll be difficult, but so is every sleep transition (bassinet to crib/ crib to toddler bed, etc)

I’ve always had a consistent lullaby playlist and specific white noise for each of my babies as well as the same routine.

Nap: snack, wind down time, nap

Bed: bath, snack, wind down, bed

We have been rocking/snuggling for like 5-10 min and then laying her down. She is never completely asleep so it is drowsy but awake. But she goes to sleep pretty quick on her own. Some nights she isn't ready to go to bed when she needs to so she'll cry for a little bit but only for a minute or less. We do this with nap time too. The laying them down and them sleeping is also how it is done at daycare so that helps with implementing it at home too.

We have a toddler bed and either me or my husband has to lay with my son for him to fall asleep. We do this for both naps and bedtime. Once he falls asleep we sneak out and he has been sleeping really well. He slept in our bed til he was about 11 months old, and then we put him in a toddler bed (it has high rails). But he's gotten used to us sneaking out lol and does okay through the night. Sometimes he'll wake up and cry for us and we'll just go back in and lay down with him again.

I still rock to sleep then transfer and we contact nap. The only way to get them to fall asleep on their own is sleep training which I’ve done twice and won’t do again

I used to have to pace and rock my baby to sleep but my back couldn’t take it anymore. I eventually slowly reduced movements until I was just sitting on the bed holding my little one to sleep. Now. She will have a cuddle and roll off of me herself and fall asleep next to me. I then transfer her to her own bed once she’s down and she does ok during the night. She is us a couple times but that’s because she is a super gassy baby 😅 . Anyway I saw no light at the end of the tunnel and I read somewhere that one day they just figure it out when they’re ready and that made me feel better about holding my little one to sleep. I wouldn’t have believed she would go to sleep by herself 6 months ago. It takes time but you will get there! Some days she’s asleep within minutes sometimes she rolls around for a good 30 mins talking to me and trying to get comfortable. I always remain silent and she nods off

I still bounce my 16 month old on a yoga ball to sleep 🫣😅 he is a great sleeper as well- puts himself back to sleep all night long but just doesn’t seem to grasp getting to sleep in the first place.
