Husband makes mean comments about my cooking…

He always makes rude little remarks even though he knows it hurts my feelings. Tonight I just heated up some tomato soup and made grilled cheese… he said “It must have been hard to open that can and heat this up on the stove”
…. I’m sorry that I’m exhausted after coming home from work and I felt like this was the best I could do 💔

Yeah it is hard maybe next time you can help do that! WTF. Sorry you have to deal with this. A complete disrespect. If you wanna complain bro then kitchen can be only your area.

That's really not on and I'm not surprised you feel the way you do. Does he ever do any cooking? Have you approached this and spoken to him about it makes you feel?

Very rude, very inconsiderate. Maybe you can ask him what’s for dinner. Who knows, maybe he needs the challenge. May even help his sensitivity, or ego… either way it would be a night off of cooking for you. You could even throw in suggestions if it helps. My husband likes to cook meals that are centered around a meat. Usually pan seared steak or pork with a grilled veggie. He never really gets more complicated than that.

Oh and sandwiches! He truly does make the best sandwiches. You can tell him, “pussycat, will you make me a sandwich?” If he likes poking fun, he better have a sense of humor.

I was a crap cook until I bought Thermomix find some local rep and see what this machine can do:) in 15 min you have fresh tomato soup

yeh Anna, I don't think this is the point of the post at all. She's not asking for recipes 🤦🏼‍♀️

Omg, I'd go full weight into "seeing as it's sooooo easy to make dinner, you can do it". The cheek of it! I do 90% of the cooking, so I always appreciate being cooked for. Yeh, because of that I do get a little annoyed if my husband doesn't make an effort, but only if it's repeated. As a one-off, if we're both busy? I wouldn't say a thing!

I’d tell him to do it himself if he doesn’t like it

take it the other direction, if you wanna be petty. "actually no, it was really easy! that's why I chose it. I can teach you if you want!"
or, you could ask him if he would have rather had you make something difficult or time consuming at your current level of exhaustion, and ask him if he would have been there to help you do it.
OR, and this is my favorite, let him know that you made him food and that he could try to at least pretend that he's appreciative, or else he can start to make his own food for himself.
the main takeaway is, don't apologize for doing your best. if it's not enough for him then that's a HIM problem.

Firstly, tomato soup and a cheese toastie is a top tier dinner! Secondly, if he doesn't like it he could take a turn cooking himself!!!

Why do you have to cook for him after working? He sounds like someone who doesn't want to be cooked for at all. Tonight's dinner would be a fryer chicken and salad from a bag.
