Coughing

How can I help my two year olds coughing at night? We use a humidifier as the air in our flat is quite dry which only helps so much and we don’t use cough syrup as it just doesn’t do anything so I’m kind of lost on how to help her unless I just constantly give her a drink

I’ve got Snuffle Babe chest rub and vapour oil on my daughter right now, plus humidifier going. And she has still been coughing nonstop for the past hour she’s been asleep. So I can’t recommend anything, but just offer camaraderie!

I’m expecting her to wake up and need me any second now :( it’s so hard to hear them coughing isn’t it!

I’ve put olbas oil in her humidifier and that works pretty good well, I also constantly have it by her bed😂 I forgot the vapour rub tonight😩
It’s so horrible hearing them cough especially when it’s so bad they gag😭

Hope your little one gets better soon x

Sorry to hear your little one is unwell. Is it wet or dry/chesty cough?
My little one got a nasty cold, full of snot and wet cough last winter and we saw a private GP. She explained why the cough is so bad at night and gave us some useful advic: inhaler with a salt saline solution (use 2-3 x a day, then pat the back if it's wet cough to loosen the secretions), pillow so the chilld doesn't lay flat (the higher the better), lots of fresh air, syrup: I found bronchostop Jr is good but you can make your own (onion, honey, garlic...I know it sounds gross but it's actually OK or drink made of majoram infusion plus honey), Olbas oil.
Hope she gets better soon.x
