I am not a fan of pajamas for babies and young kids (18mos to 3/4)

To me they are way too small and shrink even smaller after a wash or two

I've never had that problem. A few brands run small which can be annoying but just as many run big and that's just kinda how all clothes are now. 90% of pajamas I've ever gotten for my kids have fit fine and I've never had them shrink

I think pyjamas in general you need to size up for kids.

Do you use a tumble dryer?
I've never had that problem

I’ve never had an issue with pyjamas sizes for my 15 month old. I switched her to pyjamas or footless baby grows two months ago because I have a tall girl and I got fed of how fast she grew out of baby grows thanks to her long legs and feet.

I think many pajamas run “snug fit” for fire safety reasons. I am not sure if there is any regulation around this as I know they sell different types. I do often see pajamas that are either “flame retardant” or state that they are not flame retardant. One of my kids went through a chunky phase and we had trouble finding pajamas that fit well. We sometimes have sized up in snug fitting pajamas.

I've also never had a problem with any of my kids' clothing shrinking. Maybe you should try to see if there's a pattern? Also some pj's are made to fit a bit tighter for younger kids to feel like they're being hugged

I need to size up in pyjamas and vests before the rest of her clothes.

Just a heads up, unless pajamas are labeled as “snug fit” they are treated with flame retardant chemicals due to an outdated safety law (in the US). Just get them in a size up

I honestly hardly buy pajamas for the reason I posted BUT my kids were 9 pounds 23 inches and almost ten pounds 23 inches and consistently in 95 above percentile so maybe my kids are the “issue” 😂

I never had issues with pjs not fitting. I also wash in cold and hang dry everything

What is the alternative?

I always put my son in pajama shorts or just shorts and a shirt to be honest or if winter then winter appropriate clothing. He actually expressed he didn’t like his clothes tight which is that snug fit most are mentioning here. I have a 3 month old and my partner got 18 month pajamas but I feel they will fit him now they look so small. Certainly won’t fit him at 18 months I can say that haha

but I have larger babies so that could just be my reality while they are made to fit a standard size of child

Ohh okay got it. Yea I find the carters brand from the carters store not Walmart or target are the only ones that keep their size well
